FSX crash - chance - 10-04-2010 randomly (usually about 20 mins into flight) FSX totally locks up .. most of the time its when going through the mens, for example, having to look a the map to get the runway ILS details, but it can be if i use the menu for using FS passengers things or the like. once the game locks up , that it , there is no recovery, its end task start again ![]() this only happens when i use FSX with FS passengers I have searched forums and tried a fix someone suggested puttin this file in my FSX directory (UIAutomationCore.dll) but it hasnt stopped it Any advice would be fantastic as its increasingly looking like I will have to run without FS Passengers just to play the game ![]() My Sys is: Win 7 Ult (32bit) AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket AM3) Geil Value 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C7 1333MHz Dual Channel Asus ATI Radeon HD 5850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card running FSX with normal install then FS Acceleration ( no service packs as FS acceleration has them built in yea? ) any help would be amazing oh and hello everyone I am so glad to find this place ![]() Re: FSX crash - Recon - 10-04-2010 Dear change, First of all welcome to our forums. About your issue... Recently I bought my self also a new computer and had the same problem. After some research on google and here on the forums my problem was solved by going from a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit OS I am guesing you fsx shows you a error message that says something like: "FSX runs out of memory" Re: FSX crash - chance - 10-04-2010 na i seemed to have solved the memory issue by changing the virtual memory, that was an error i used to get even before using fspassengers but now and only whne i use fspassengers it locks up, usually when i am messing about in the menus during flight, the game simply freezes, no error messgae nothing. ![]() the only way i can play currently (for more than 20 mins or reliably) is without my much loved FSpassengers ![]() Post Edited ( 04-10-10 14:41 ) Re: FSX crash - whiskey-zulu - 10-04-2010 Do you fly in full screen or windowed mode? Opening some windows while flying in full screen mode and using FSP can cause the system to freeze; the solution is to fly in windowed mode. Re: FSX crash - chance - 10-04-2010 I fly in full screen mode, but sometime i need the menu bar at the top, its usually when i start using this it kills the game ![]() i will try running it in windowed mode ![]() Re: FSX crash - mikeshr2 - 15-04-2010 This is the biggest problem with FSX that MS flat out refused to acknowledge for 3 years and that will never be fixed now since they fired everyone who could do it. It simple locks up, the mouse cursor goes to hour glass and then either "report to ms/restart fsx" window pops up or computer freezes and has to be force powered down. The most common time it happens is when in full screen and trying to use the menus especially with the mouse as opposed to using keyboard with ALT and letters and arrow keys. The second most common time it happens is when switching from any 3-d view to a 2-d panel cockpit. The less computer you have the more often it will happen. There are posts all over the web of people climbing the walls trying to get MS to merely acknowledge the problem. There was never anything but 100% stone wall from microsoft. Things that help: If it happens with the menu's: 1) Use keyboard on the menu's instead of mouse. 2) Switch to windowed mode to work the menu's by hitting ALT-ENTER. Then when done hit ALT-ENTER to switch to full screen again. Very important: When you do ALT-ENTER, press down ALT - do not hit enter. As you hold down ALT the menu bar on top will drop down and then as you continue to hold ALT it will disappear. Do not hit ENTER right away! Hold down ALT and wait for menu bar to disappear and then hit ENTER. If it happens when switching to 2-D cockpit: 1) Turn off "Aircraft casts shadows on itself" feature. 2) Do not switch to 2-D right after switching to some other view. Let whatever view you are in sit for about 10-20 seconds and load everything it needs to load, and then switch to 2-D. 3) Before you switch out of 2-D view press F1 to turn off the main panel. After you get back to 2-D press F1 again to get it back. Post Edited ( 04-15-10 19:06 ) |
