Suggestions? - lightrail - 30-12-2008 Hi Dan, I'm really enjoying FSPX, thank you. Is it possible to control when the flight attendants make the announcements? I find that they always talk while I'm trying to talk to ATC to get clearance, or startup. I'd really like a button to press to tell the flight attendants to go ahead, now you can do it. I'd prefer this happen during taxi, not while I'm still at the gate getting clearance and starting up the engines and receiving pushback, etc. It would also be cool, if we could also hit a button to tell the crew to get ready for take-off. you kow, the double chime that is heard before take-off and before landing. That could also be used to trigger the flight attendants to say something to the passengers. Just some ideas. Thanks also for the aircraft options when loading the plane; this makes it much easier. I used to forget to pressurize a GA plane until the passengers starting gettign sick at over 12,000 ft. Re: Suggestions? - SkyAirWorld - 30-12-2008 You can... Have the music turned on on taxi... and turn it off when your ready Re: Suggestions? - Anastasios - 30-12-2008 In real life the announcements can't be heard in the cockpit, or they hear it softly throug a speaker. Cockpit can manage volume of the cabin anouncements. Also, in real life the captain is not going to control when the cabin crew is allowed to use the public address. It often even is the other way around. The captain asks the purser if it is ok for him to speak using the public adress. Anastasios. I have never asked permission ever to use the PA (from anyone but the captian in trainee/ f/o days) Our SOP is that Captian is in charge of everything (obviously crew dont just ask the captian for anything, but for PA, serving times, etc it is normal for CC ot ask the captian... thats our SOP anyway), Everyone works around/ with the Captian, however we also have scheduled times for Captian/ Cabin Crew to use the PA Eg, [Captian Announcment if desired now] (with a time) That would have definatly been new to me when I eventually move to a larger airline such as QF/ VB etc Re: Suggestions? - Anastasios - 30-12-2008 What kind of aircraft do you fly then? Because on the bigger airlines/aircrafts, cabin crew is constantly using the PA , especially during and after boarding and the PA of the captain overrules the PA of the cabin crew for safety reasons. But if the captain just wants to inform passengers about something and it is not safety related, he will check with the purser if it is ok to do so. Or else he might interrupt announcements from cabin crew. Also inflight they often check with the purser if it is ok to announce something. Maybe passengers don't 'need' information right now, but just want to sleep or maybe something is going on in the cabin where we don't need the 'noise' of an announcement, f.e. something medical. And the cabin crew checks with the captain about serving times?? That's just crazy. At my airline (well, most airlines I know anyway) the cockpit crew don't know anything about the serviceand we decide what we do in the cabin. Cockpit crew fly the airplane and we take care of the passengers in the cabin. Anastasios. Post Edited ( 12-30-08 14:07 ) Re: Suggestions? - SkyAirWorld - 31-12-2008 Embraer Jets 170, 190, and endorsed on the 145 but do not usually fly the 145 (aswell as props like 404 etc) By Ask the Captian, all it is, is the CC just letting us know they have began serving the passengers. Our PA isnt overly used, its used for crew announcments etc, but thats about it, once the movie comes on, there arevery few announcments. But also we are a very small airline, Charters, and small RPT's |
