New forum area needed:Forum Support - Den Dee - 03-07-2008 This forum system IS good, but it does have its share of bugs and it does need someone to monitor it and try to clear it up. I understand that the crew is minimal and none of the crew is willing or has the experience to do it, but still... at least give it a consideration and maybe contact someone from the forum engine providers who can answer/fix the problems... not that there are many, mind you. This is a common sense solution as well as a good PR practice. Just so that I, a humble user, can report a bug, like: "For some reason whenever I answer a post, it shows me as the originator (OP) in the "new posts list" in the main forum page." The area could have useful stickies like " The netiquette - how do I go about without offending the folk here", "The screenshoot wording rule ![]() Just a suggestion to consider. Post Edited ( 07-03-08 22:46 ) Re: New forum area needed:Forum Support - JayKae - 03-07-2008 Just ask the questions in the General section and there is not many stickies because... we don' t like 'em ![]() Re: New forum area needed:Forum Support - Den Dee - 03-07-2008 Oh Sir! Please! This is not quite the solution to my concerns. I realise that opening a new forum section is like opening (yet another) can of worms... but suppose I concur. I post a message in the General area, stating: whenever someone asks a question and I answer it, it shows me as an OP in the front page. Being realistic, ...am I going to expect an answer? The topic belongs to the "forum support" area, which this board lacks, unfortunately. Supposing I asked it in General and not here, what would you, as a moderator, answer? Pagir Re: New forum area needed:Forum Support - Den Dee - 04-07-2008 Very well, in that case the second column title should read "Last post by", rather than "Author" as it reads now. Re: New forum area needed:Forum Support - Ryanamur - 05-07-2008 This is a sementics debate. Here's what it says: "What's new? last 30 posts in all forums" : To me this will list the last 30 posts made in all forums to which you have access "Subject" : To me, this lists the subject or, if you wish, the thread "Author" : To most people, this would be the individual who wrote the said post "Forum" : Again, the forum where you can find the said post. Hope this clarifies the issue. Phil Post Edited ( 07-05-08 18:00 ) Re: New forum area needed:Forum Support - Den Dee - 05-07-2008 Technically you are right. Only when I see "Author" in such a context, I automatically think "original poster". Guess it is just me... Thanks for clarification. Re: New forum area needed:Forum Support - Ryanamur - 05-07-2008 No problem. It's author of the post itself since we are tracking the last 30 posts. Phil |
