(Significant) Problems with FOOD - UA7472IAD - 26-08-2007

Hi everyone,

As the topic states, I'm having several problems with the food service aboard my flights. I have chosen to manually serve food, but I have
encountered several problems....

1) Radar Contact (and this only occurs when I run it) seems to block the serve food shortcut (Ctrl Shift H), I have to manually pull down the
menu to serve food. As far as I know, there is no RCv4 key assigned that interferes with this command. Any Ideas?

2) I am running the latest version of FSPassengers, and yet I still run out of food! From what I read on the forums, three hot meals could
be served. FSPassengers has for the last few flights, only allowed me to serve 2 meals, and I am continually running out of food!
Thoughts?

3) My last longhaul, KWI-IAD, I had hungry passengers after take-off, which was at 23:45. How can my passengers be so hungry, when
the report states, "most passengers are sleeping"? This is not very realistic Hunappy

Well, the first two are my main concern, the third is just a pet-peeve. Any ideas or solutions?

Tried it, and I still can't use a key shortcut.

So no one else has had this problem? Hunappy

- Still only getting two meals per flight.

Hey UA7472IAD:

There are several key conflicts between the defaults used by FSPax, Radar Contact, and Flight Sim. I changed the keystrokes for FSPax
and RC4 to resolve things.

RC4 configuration:
1. Remove all keystrokes from Co-Pilot Plane toggle on down
2. Set "Display Window" to CTL+SH+0 (zero)

FSPax configuration:
1. Remove ALL keystroke assignments except Mayday and Seatbelt
2. Assign only the following:
2a. CTL+SH+2 Paly/stop next music
2b. CTL+1 Display in-flight report
2c. CTL+3 Serve Drinks
2d. CTL+SH+4 Serve Sandwiches
2e. CTL+4 Serve hot food
2f. CTL+SH+2 Play movie
2g. CTL+0 (zero) Show/hide mini display
2h CTL+SH+1 Switch mini display verbose/short
This puts your entertainment (music, movie) on the 2 key, and your food (hot, sandwiches) on the 4 key. Display for both RC4 and FSPax
are on the 0 (zero) key. FSPax reports/display are on the 1 key.

FS9 configuration:
1. Go into your assignments and unassign all of the Nav, DME, Marker annunciators that use the above keystrokes. I never used them
that way (preferring the cockpit switches instead).

That will remove all of your conflicts and superfluous assignments. That's how I fly it, and it works great. Hope it serves you well.
Hawg.

SparksnMagic:

Still nothing. I'm not sure what to do: if this is a problem with FSPax or FSUIPC or RadarContact.

Regarding the meals, I don't know what the problem is. I've flown just about everywhere (thanks for BA) and my experience is: get a glass
of champagne or two within minutes of joining the plane, get a main meal within 2 hours of take off, and get a hot breakfast within 2 hours
of landing. Apart from that there's "raid the larder" which is not a served hot meal. To my mind that's two meals. Perfectly fine. Why do you
need 3?

Re: (Significant) Problems with FOOD - Anastasios - 19-09-2007

At KLM we also don't serve more than two meals on long flights.

On night flights we serve a hot snack in the evening and every hour we pass through the cabin with water and juice and before arrival we serve breakfast.

On other flights we serve the meal, pass every hour with water and juice, halfway the flight some ice cream or noodle soup, more juice and water and
before arrival we serve a snack or hot soup.

Anastasios.

I'll give it a try, thanks!

PaulAH and Anastasios:

Regarding the food... I know that only two meals are served in real life. My employer, United, also only serves two meals. On the longest
segment that I've flown with them (SFO-SYD), we only got two meals (in ALL classes). However, in FSPassengers, when I fly SFO-SYD
(or ORD-HKG or SFO-ICN, or anything over 12 hours), my passengers get pissed off if they dont' get a third meal, since they get hungry
every four hours. Sandwiches don't do anything.

Dan, I really think you should consider changing the "hunger" realism of the passengers, for the next update. In my experience, snacks
are left out (in premium cabins) or served (in coach) on long hauls in between the meals. Further more, most people bring thier own
food to snack on anyways.
