Oil price for economic company [screenshot] - DanSteph - 25-04-2005

I just made the function that will compute the oil price change during time,
as you see below it's fractal.

The graph show the JetA1 price change during 500 flights each graph is one company
notice how the yellow company had a lot of luck with rate usually well under common price (red line)
while the blue one sustained high price and had also a "crack" (I plan to send a litle splash screen
stating that there was a crack if this happen)

Notice you can start 500 company you'll have 500 time differents graph.

Comment ? I wonder if one want such a "random" element that would disturbe your game ?
(if you play the blue company for example it would be a bit harder)

(the graph show FsP data exported to Excell, I didn't made the FsP graph yet)

Hey, luck is real life. I'm all for a bit of randomness. A lot of things affect oil prices that are out of the airlines' control and that idea reflects
this. Nice one Dan. Smile

Re: Oil price for economic company [screenshot] - DanSteph - 25-04-2005

one positive then... Wink

Anyway as I'm not a bad guy, "crack" may happen only if all is well for you, usually well later in the game
you can't have one at start and it will be very rare anyways...

Another neat idea:

Price can change per airport, some will always be a bit high priced while somes others could
be always a bit less (not much perhaps 2-5 cents per liter)

So if you want to make money perhaps you may think to take the
fuel on airport that have cheaper price ???

I recall having hear a things like that in a pilot list: pilot of a big company received order
to take as much fuel as they can when flying from airport nnn and the less possible
from airport zzz...

The final report can state how the price was in the financial part ... ie: "higher than market" / "lower than market"

... and we are not talking about dangerous places! Prices should be really high!

It's a very good idea,Dan... I'm looking for beta testing it!

Maybe you should implement some variations like:

crack: fuel boost very high
"Incertitude in ....": price can make odds fluctuations: varie very much
"Too much demand" or "a tanker grounded" or "a refinery in flame" : price is rising up fast
"Big reserves" or "Opep rise its production" or... : price is droping fast
"Calm down": price is very stable...

Anyway, I hope everyone realize that Flight simulator will never be the same...

Looks really good.

Just one slight thing, when you say crack I think you are meaning to say 'crash' as in stock market price crash. Unless you mean
someting else entirely.

The feature whre differnt airports have differnt prices is really good and like Pagir said it would be good to have like a 'news' style item
relating to the current prices.

Looking foward to the release (no pressure Wink ),

The fractal carry their hown set of variation, sometime it vary a lot and other time it's steady
anyway I plan to have a brief "financial advice" in the dialog where the graph is that will say
how is the market.

Dangerous place is also a good idea. thanks Pagir Top

Re: Oil price for economic company [screenshot] - DanSteph - 26-04-2005

Dialog finished, all work appart the market advice that is fake for now.

Somes more hours to integrate the number in the flight with the new "per airport" price
and dangerous price and this part will be finished, I'll see that tomorrow (3am here)

Here the graph for another company, notice two things:

Even with price in another currency (euro in this image) the graph will still show
the data in US$, but the current price will be displayed in the correct currency.

100LL and Jet A1 price are not linked but they follow both the same market tendancy...

Re: Oil price for economic company [screenshot] - jboweruk - 26-04-2005

I like that idea too, airports having different prices would not just mean take on what you can where it's cheap, remember, a plane burns
more fuel when fully loaded than it does half empty, so you'd be forced to weigh up your options. At what point do you say "okay fuel's
cheaper here, but not enough that if I fill up I'll still be in.."

Re: Oil price for economic company [screenshot] - DanSteph - 26-04-2005

Done, each airport have a "custom" oil price, I plan to add a dialog "show airports price and taxes"
where you can query ICAO code to look about fuel price and taxes on one airport...

Test on various airport ICAO code showed those result for oil price:

KCCR 0.00110
KABI 0.01990
KABQ -0.00910
KACK 0.01840
KACT -0.07200
KACY -0.01540
KADM 0.03180
KADW -0.04860
KAEX -0.01460
KAFB 0.03140
KAGS 0.03480
KAKR 0.02470
KALB -0.03520
KALC -0.02800
KALI 0.02750
KAMA -0.04600
KAPG -0.04550
KAND 0.02740
KAOO 0.02710
KART 0.04690
KATL -0.01740
OAAD -0.02650
OAAK -0.01070
OAAS -0.01740
OABD 0.03830
OABG -0.02070
OABK -0.02260
OABN 0.00150
OABR 0.00580
OABS 0.03980
OABT -0.00560

This is the price in $US to add to the current fuel price. Result is good because for almost the same
name the result may be really different and varied.

Notice from time to time somes rare airport have bigger numbers as for example
KACT -0.07200 wich make 7 cents per liter ... if you use 30000 liter it might make
a big difference... (they will never changes KACT will always be and advantageous place to fly for fuel price)

Notice I can make them change over time ? (every 10 flights for example?)
what would you preffer ?

Re: Oil price for economic company [screenshot] - Robjos - 26-04-2005

It would be good if the fuel prices varied at individual airports varied slightly over time but it is really the most minor feature that really
dosent matter that much.

One question, are landing fees included in Fsp for example your company has to pay a lot to land at LFPG or EGLL but much less to land
at somewhere like LFLI. This would add a whole new dimension like where small turboprop airlines can only afford to go to smaller
airports whilst large international airlines can affor the fees and taxes of larger airports.

Fantastic work - With all this experience youll be running a real airline next Smile

Airport taxes are already included I'll now make them varying but only a bit from airport to airport...
(a bit only because I don't know yet the size of the airport)

I prepare right now a new dialog where you can query all ICAO code to see taxes
fee , fuel price and compare...

Cool part, I love designing new class and working on file loading that construct a database
that you can query....

Ready in a couple of hours first screenshot today I think
