Emergency procedure for IFR flights - Zeder - 21-10-2006 Hello, Yesterday I got an emergency situation some minutes after takeoff. IFR fligth from LIMC to LSZH. I declared emergency and finished the IFR flight, changed to VFR, requested approach for LIMC RW35R. OK. But, there aren't any ATC help for approach/landing and I 'found' an B737 on the runway during approach. My question: Does anybody now the correct procedure for emergeny cases? Is it possible in FSP, to have priority for landings or something like that? (Yes I have read FAQ's, but no answer found ![]() Re: Emergency procedure for IFR flights - pdjpeter - 21-10-2006 FSP and fs do not conenct in anyway so atc will not change for an fsp situation Re: Emergency procedure for IFR flights - eazy - 21-10-2006 Common problem with ATC is that you have to squawk emergency code 7700 with FSP but ATC will not let you. The best "procedure" to get along with both (provided you are able to land at the scheduled airport) would be to continue your IFR flight with the given squawk code until you are cleared to land, only then squawk 7700. That will be soon enough for FSP, you'll have a clear runway (hopefully) and won't get any penalties. Re: Emergency procedure for IFR flights - Zeder - 22-10-2006 Hi, Thanks for responses. But the main question is, what do you do in emergency case (IFR-Flight). What I actually do is: I choose 'select another airport' > Fs9 ask to save 'this new flight'. For example flight LIMC-LSZH, emergency occurs 30nm from LIMC > I want return back to LIMC, >> save 'flight LIMC-LIMC' (nonsense in my eyes). Does anybody has a better way ![]() Re: Emergency procedure for IFR flights - Ceemosp - 22-10-2006 Quote:Zeder wrote: I cancel my IFR flights and request landing at the airport of my choice (picked from GPS nearest ap screen). You can normally choose alternate approaches/rwys if the one given from ATC isn't to your liking. After receiving the clearance from ATC (mostly for visual) I then fly an approach as stated in the appropriate STAR. If the rwy is IFR capable you can fly IFR's w/o problems as FS9 doesn't switch off the localizer or glideslope. The only problem is that ATC won't give you any vectors etc...but with the correct charts this ain't a problem. Greetz Carsten Re: Emergency procedure for IFR flights - Chris41 - 22-10-2006 I do the same as stated above. I cancel my IFR flight and use the gps to determine the next closest airport with a runway long enough for a landing with whatever aircraft I'm flying. After doing this I pause fs and go online and get the flight charts and airport layout for where I'm going to land. Maybe in the future, maybe with fSX, some of these problems will be addressed. Re: Emergency procedure for IFR flights - Ceemosp - 22-10-2006 In this particular case the 'X' in FSX stands for any future version coz I strongly assume it's not solved in the current FSX. Maybe one of the cracks already running FSX could verify this ? Greetz Carsten Re: Emergency procedure for IFR flights - Zeder - 23-10-2006 Hi Carsten and Chris41, Thanks for this informations. Almost the same procedure I have done. |
