New H/D, so I moved the whole FS folder to new drive - 09El_Boissevain - 25-09-2006

Hey,

Since I got my brand new 500GB hard drive (had 0 BYTES left in my old one!! Drunk lol ), I just HAD to move my whole Flight Simulator folder
(~60B) to the new drive since there was no more space to install ANYTHING. And since I moved the fs folder over there... FsPassengers said something
like "not genuine owner... (or something like that)... please buy FsPassengers"... Is this something like the registry cant find the FS folder? If so
how do I fix this AND all the other registries of my other payware stuff?

Thanx a bunch

Captain El

P.S. if this is not fixed, i cannot fly with the always-addictive FSPassengers!!!!! Grrr Sad

Do anyone ever use the :faq: part of this site?

Quote:DID YOU COPY/MOVE THE FSPASSENGER FOLDER?
There is an anti folder copy protection, you can not move the folder, FsP will detect that. If you want to move it because you reinstalled
Fs2004 for example, simply reinstall FsPassengers in your new Fs2004 directory, unlock the demo again (using your original key) and
copy the 'FsPassengers/Database' folder which contain all your flight data from your old installation to the new one.

Like what Drew said and about your registry;
If you moved (so not reinstalled) fs to a new drive letter, you'd better adjust the registry entry to have it point at the
correct location.
I'm not at my fs pc now but i think you should look for this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight
Simulator\9.0 and change
the value to the driveletter it is installed on now

Sorry, but can you tell me exactly where it is? (where it should be in default drive location). Thank you Smile

You need to use the registry editor and look for the key i gave you above. That is exactly where it is Smile Where you've put your fs installation, that
i don't know.

Click on start, then Run....

Then enter regedit and press Enter.

Providing you've got an English-language OS, of course.. Wink

Take a backup before you do anything with the registry editor!!!

You are NOT given a chance to "undo" anything, or cancel any changes you've made without saving - any changes you apply take effect IMMEDIATELY.

It is possible to stop Windows from booting through improper use of the registry editor. If you don't know how to do it, back up your important data
first!

*Pending "How do I backup the registry" question* Wink

lol

Re: New H/D, so I moved the whole FS folder to new drive - highlander - 27-09-2006

Doh!

Back up your important data, not the registry!

If you want to back up the registry too, use the "System Restore" function to set a restore point before plunging into the registry editor also.

Happy? LOL Smile
