I recently purchased the Carenado 182Q in my never-ending quest for an ac with realistic handling. I tested and trained with it all weekend, am
extremely pleased with how it behaves and how close it conforms to the POH performance charts under various conditions, and ready to use it with FsP
by making a payload model. There doesn't appear to be one in the downloads and in any case I'd like to build my own because I want the handling under
FsP to behave exactly as the designers intended (i.e, the way it behaves outside FsP). Thus, I want to use the payload option where the Disable
position calculation is checked and the stations/arms are derived from the aircraft.cfg not the default option where they are arbitrary. Because it
is a GA light craft, I need to use the workaround where weight and placement of a pilot and copilot are also considered.
I've built a couple of other payloads in this fashion for other light payware singles in the past (see Downloads) but I want to make absolutely
certain that I am doing it correctly, so I would like a definitive from Dan on this one so I (and others) can use it as a template for generalizing to
other aircraft in the future. Here is the info and tasK;
The 192Q has two banks of two seats each and two baggage compartments. The crew workaround requires that I sacrafice one of the baggage compartments
as the crew station. Thus, the payload model for FsP will have three stations: 1. A baggage compartment. defined at the location of the rear
baggage compartment in the aircraft.cfg. 2. A single bank of 2 pax seats, located at the position of stations 3 and 4 in the .cfg. These are the
seats FsP uses and fills. and 3. Permanent seating for the pilot / copilot created by defining one of the payload baggage slots as a crew station
located at the Z, X, Y for stations 0 and 1 in the .cfg. The w & b section of the aircraft.cfg appears below.
So, I have two specific questions:
1. Should I define the stations in reference to reference_datum_position or to empty_weight_CG_position?
2. The Z, Y ccordinates for the station for the crew in FSP should be 4.67-3.18= 1.49 (Z), 0 (Y); the one for the passengers should be 4.67-5.56=
-.89, 0; and the baggage will be 4.67-6.93= -2.26, 0. Is that exactly correct? Will this reproduce the C of G as it appears in the graphic that
appears in the Fuel & Load dialogue within FS itself under the same loads. Thanks
