Historical Data Feature perhaps? - Agrajag - 12-07-2006

Hey all. Just flying around in VATSIM tonight and I remembered all the posts from people asking how to best guess at how long a specific flight would
take. Then I started thinking that, for those of us with historical data to draw from, how about presenting it when it comes up again.

In other words, if I let FSP know that I'm going from KLAX to KSEA and I've already got other flights that match that, it'd be great to see that data
and I can then see that, "Oh, hey, look, it took me an average of X time to make that flight."

I think you can (can't verify it for sure, I'm at work).

Go into the Company Manager and go into your pilot's flight log.

Then try double-clicking on a particular flight, and it SHOULD show you the outcome of the flight. But as I said, I could be wrong. I'll look later
if nobody else posts to confirm.

Yes, you can see all the info like how long it took to fly at what speed and altitude in the pilots flight log.

But i do like the idea, that FsP would automaticly show previous flight times when putting in destination. Maybe in a future update this would be
possible.

Exactly, the data is already there. It would just be nice, while putting the destination ICAO in, to alert me to the previous flights and give me a
synopsis that would help me with the current flight.

I could then see, for example, an array of flights that include landing north and south and the average between the two so that I could pick a time
that takes care of both, etc. Heck, the product could even pre-fill an average time:

"The average length of your previous flights on this route (6 flights) is 1 hour 12 minutes. Click here to use that time as your estimated trip time."

It'd be up to me to look at the log to spot anomalies and such.

I'm sure if we ask Dan nicely it will find it's way in. After all quite a few other user suggestions did..... Fleet bonus was a user suggestion
that Dan implemented.

I don't know how accurate it is, but FS2004 will actually give you an estimate.

When creating your flight plan, check the "Navigation Log" button - it will give you an estimate of fuel burn and flight time. As mentioned, I make
no vouch for its accuracy as I've never really paid that much attention (I don't fill in the estimated flight time part, just the destination field).

Re: Historical Data Feature perhaps? - jboweruk - 13-07-2006

It's about 20 minutes out. Best estimates I've seen are flying for Air-Source. That gives you a time in which to do the flight and usually if I
plug that in to FSP I'm within a minute or two of perfect. ie I still get the bonus.
