Mal-function in FsP. - camaflight - 05-05-2006 My plane sunk down on the right side when landing on RW 08R at EDDT (Berlin Tegel). This was of course by FsP determined as an accident. The whole approach and landing was just normal, so what caused the odd behavior of the aircraft. There were no emergency warnings given from my co-pilot. I have now tried out landing at the same runway with FsP disabled, about 20 times and without any problems. I have tried 5 times with FsP and the same thing happens all the time. I have the addon scenery for EDDT by Aerosoft (German Airports 3 – GAP3 ). It was an elevation problem with the AFCAD-file with this scenery, but this is already fixed with a patch from Aerosoft. Firstly I was pretty sure the mal-function was caused by FsP, but just to be quite sure I have checked out this particular airport in case the bug is related to GAP3. I have tried different airplanes, all runways and as mentioned above I have landed about 20 times on this specific runway. It’s no problem at all (except a minor bump on the first part of the 08R). With FsP running (my particular flight plan was ENTO-EDDT), the plane sinks down on the right side and FsP reports every time that the accident is caused by a pilot failure. (Hence I get penalized by several minus points and that goes for my company as well). Today I tried a new variant, by making an FsP-flight as a sight-seeing with departure and arrival at EDDT. (15 min. flight). Experiencing no problems, I decided to give the ENTO-EDDT one more shot. This is what happened and this is obviously pointing out what may happen to FsP due to a bug or what ever you prefer to call it: But first, just to inform about my “flightsim-program –configuration”; I am using Radar Contact ver4.01, FS Real Time ver 1.79.3, and Active Sky-ASv6 as well. On final to EDDT, lowering the landing gear, my co-pilot tells we have a problem as one of the main wheels won’t fully extend. (The problem was related to the left main wheel). I declared an emergency, and followed the procedure according to the rules). I made two “sort-of -touch-and-goes”, bumping a little hard each time to see if I could loosen the left wheel, and I did succeed as my FsP-co-pilot told me so. So after the third go-around I finally made the last approach, just normal and with the smoothest landing I ever made. BUT, a second later the plane sunk down on the LEFT side and I was back to the same situation as mentioned initially- an accident with screaming passengers. It was then impossible to end the FsP without quitting it totally. So what obviously is happening is that the failure/emergency part of the FsP is mal-functioning, causing failures to the aircraft without pre- warnings. And as to the last case still hanging up with the failure even if the FsP-co-pilot tells everything is back in order. Maybe this is only related to the gear-got-stuck-failure. I don’t know. I only ask you to please solve this problem – as it will be very, very time consuming to keep on flying more than 20 hours just to get credited for 1,5 hour ! Re: Mal-function in FsP. - Dutch64 - 05-05-2006 Hi there, good to notice that you tried several scenario's yourself already to pinpoint the exact nature of the problem. You have tried many times at the same airport, my question is, what happens when you try to land at different airports? Same problems or just on eddt? A "hole" in the runway can occur with every scenery (also default) and the sinking you reported will only happen in that case at that specific spot. Does this sinking always happen at the exact same place or is it random after you come to a standstill? Must be some weird combination otherwise of fsp, the plane and it's contactpoints in the aircraft.cfg and the airport... Re: Mal-function in FsP. - camaflight - 05-05-2006 Well, I never experienced this problem at other airports. All the times I tried to land in FsP mode, prior to the emergency flight, I landed at different spots on the runway. ( I know EXCACTLY where the location of the Aerosoft-EDDT-RW08R-bump is and I avoided landing at that particular spot) When I tried to bump loose the left wheel first time in my emergency flight, I did not quite succeed in making a short bumpy touch on the runway, instead I got a rather smooth landing and for a short second I was consider fulfilling the landing. However I gave full throttle again and left the runway for another try. This means I did not touch the ground with the left wheel at that time as this was not fully extended and my plane wasn't tipping a single inch to the left. Next time I made the right hard touch to the ground and I made a fast climb. The final kiss landing I made I made with a small, small tilt to the right, and everything seemed to be OK, until the aircraft slowly sunk down on the left side and "FsP smoke and fireworks" colored the catastrophe accompanied with the scream of terrified passengers. Prior to the emergency flight, all the FsP flights ended with the airplane sinking/tipping down on the RIGHT side ! Is it a possibility that FsP has hung up with SOME wrong code in the "failure-part (matrix or something like that) of the program, always giving me a stocked landing gear failure from now on... ?? The most rational thing to do here is perhaps to accept that weird things can happen in flightsim and better report back to you if the problem continues regardless of the arrival airport. I have, however, a little psychological problem by quitting the EDDT now...........It would be kind of totally waste of time not to solve this problem............The risk is of course that soon they're coming to take me away ha- ha, hi-hi ho-ho ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Mal-function in FsP. - camaflight - 06-05-2006 Hi guys, I found the reason to the problem, or at least I have it pretty well localized ! I am far from sure anymore if it is caused by FsP. Because of unrealistic building crashes due to bugs in several sceneries, I have disabled crash detection in the FS9 aircraft option- menu. After considering my thought about failure hang-up in FsP, I tried some more landings with FsP disabled, but the crash detection in FS enabled. And guess what. The aircraft sunk down into the ground. After reloading the aircraft several times everything was Ok again, with normal landings. Then I made a crash, restarted FS and tried a new landing, all the time without FsP. The aircraft sunk into the ground again. This means that somehow FS9 or the aircraft won’t reset the failure to zero. What happens with FsP enabled must be that FsP also enable the crash-detection option in FS and if I have a none-reset situation already in my FS9 cfg., well then the failure will automatically be re-called by FsP, through no fault of FsP though. If this is right, the question now will be; if FS9 itself has a problem with resetting failures to zero or if it is caused by the airplane FDE or model. Else there must probably be something wrong with FsP after a failure has been generated. But why does it only appear during the landing and not at the very start of the flight, at the stand, during the taxiing to active or during take off ? I don’t know, but it all surly has to do with a failure that won’t reset to zero after restarting FS9. Post Edited ( 05-07-06 00:45 ) |
