atc.dll any updates? - Tanz - 21-02-2006

Hi guys,

I've just reinstalled Fsp (last update)....and created a new company.
Flew with the C206 from Carenado....And i have a ctd at the end of the flight and switching from tower to ground with ATC.
File involved: atc.dll
Never had that before on previous fsp versions...
Did somebody found how to solve this problem?

Thanks

Tanz

I had that alot once, I reinstalled FS9 with update, I also took the opportunity to format and reinstall everything on my pc. And this time I did not
use a no-cd patch (Not sure if this had anything to do with it.).
Also I restart my computer before every major flight I do (just to be sure).

This issue was discussed in several threads last year (I'm lazy and just point to the search function). It had to do with EditVoicepack. Just in
case you use that, try updating EditVoicepack to a newer version.

Did you check for any double afcad files? atc.dll is a nasty one but wrong or duplicate afcad files is the most common cause for these errors

Tx runibl....but i've already installed fs9.1. I give a try to a restart to see if there is any difference.

Hi Eazy....yep i've found the thread...that's why i was asking if there was any news regarding this issue.
And i don't use editvoicepack....maybe i should give a try.

Tx Dutch64...I'll have a look on that...but not quiet sure i'll find any because i haven't done any mod with afcad & added sceneries neither.

Keep in touch

Hum...i've tried many things but nothing really interesting happened...So apart from creating a new flight (instead of starting from a previous
one)...There's nothing much to do.

Anyway, thanks for your help guys.

Take care,

Tanz,

Try this I was having crazy errors along time ago.. And I did this and it corrected my problems. When You do
this you will have to reset your graphics settings etc.. But you do not have to worry about it causing major changes. Proven and tested on
this end..

Method 4: Rebuild the Flight Simulator 2004 configuration file
To rebuild the Flight Simulator configuration file, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type %appdata%\Microsoft\FS9, and then
click OK.
2. Rename the FS9.CFG file to FS9.BAK.
3. Start Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight.
Restarting Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight rebuilds the configuration file.

And If that does not work here is a link to test out other things etc. Like your Direct X etc etc..

Good Luck,

Josh

Hi Josh!

Tx for the tip....but my pb is very minor....do you think it will solve this atc ctd?
Normally you just need to change the name or move the fs9.cfg to get a new one at the next Fs9 start, why type " %appdata%\Microsoft\FS9, and then
click OK. "?

Cheers

its just shortcut to open the folder holding the cfg file, as usually the folder is hidden Smile

Re: atc.dll any updates? - Cathaxis - 20-04-2006

I think I may have a solution to this very annoying problem. But first, a little background information on the problem that I recently began
having....

Lately, FS would crash by locking up and going to a black screen while I was running FSPassengers and I would land at a towered
airport when the tower would hand me off to ground. No duplicate AFCAD files, so that wasn't the cause. Uninstalled Editvoicepack---
nope, didn't take care of it. Tried a fix involving the terrain.cfg file in FS9's main directory. Guess what? That didn't work either!!! I tested all
these possible solutions and a few more at an airport that would lock up at the tower-ground handoff point without fail.

Sitting in front of the pc after the 7th crash or so, I decided to rethink the approach that I was using. The one common factor among all the
crashes besides the point in time that they would occur is that they involved the atc.dll file in the Modules folder. I thought to myself, "Well,
what if something that I installed at some point in time had changed that module just enough that whenever FSPassengers would run,
FS would crash at the tower-ground handoff point?"

Following this course of action, I put Disc 2 of FS2004 into the cd drive and browsed to the .cab file that contained the Module folder in its
unaltered form. Comparing the atc.dll file on the installation disc with the one on my hard drive, I did indeed discover that something had
changed it! Each of the atc.dll files bore the same date, but different times on the "Date Created" line. I copied the atc.dll file on disc and
put it in the FS9/Modules folder, overwriting the atc.dll file there. Guess what? No CTD's so far!

My theory on this is that more than likely the update patch that Microsoft put out replaced the original atc.dll file with a newer one that was
slightly incompatible with FSPassengers.

It would be great if this would help for you and others suffering from these crashes. On the other hand i still wonder what exactly might be the
course because lots of people run with the patched version and don't have any problems. But then again, atc.dll are the most difficult, dark problems
a simmer can get into Wink
