Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Alexair - 10-11-2005

Hello folks,

I really like FsPassengers but I am very frustrated. 9 time out of 10 I can't finish a flight when using FsPassengers... I have always CTD
issue...

I have read ALL subject about that, I tried all solutions given by everybody: I removed ALL my sceneries and ALL add-on except my
wonderfull B767-300 Level-D. I tried to modify the scenery.cfg (all the MASKClassMap=0 etc.. stuff as explained), I tried to use
FsAutoStart, I tried to fly in all season and all time of day and night. I tried Online flying (IVAO) and regular flying (with and without AI ATC
and AI Traffic), I tried to reduce a lot the graphism settings. I have made all the test flight with the same aircraft and on the same route
(Level-D 767-300 EGKK-LFMN that is London Gatwick to Nice Côte d'Azur). I have checked if I had the aerocor.dll stuff (I didn't have it). I
didn't install any afcad file. I don't use FS GPS, only Level-D FMC, I have checked if I have the latest FsPax version (which I have), I tried to
set the sound hardware acceleration notch to all settings (in dxdiag).

The only thing I didn't check because I didn't find it (and I don't even know what it is) is the Edit VoicePack stuff.

All the CTD happen anywhere and anytime (could be on ground, during initial climb, enroute, during descent, approaching the dest.
airport, etc...). Nothing really consistent...

Flight without FsPax = all OK
Flight with FsPax = 9 CTD out of 10 flight (and event sometimes was 10 out of 10!!)

What do I have to do now??? Remove definitely this wonderful add-on (FsPax) and have paid for nothing?? Or there is a solution??

And furthermore I have another issue:
I cannot have access to my flight logs and I cannot send them to my VA. The error read:

Error unable to find the flight in log file. Flight ID doesn't match. found=IT319AK index=IT154AK

And that for all my flights done under the company. The flights exist but I cannot access them.
I did not transfert pilot I only did 4 flights and all 4 logs have the same problem.
This problem happen to ALL 3 airline that I have created and to ALL pilots...

I am getting VERY frustrated Hunappy

Here is my PC config:

AMD athlon 2.0+ (1,67Go)
Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4200 64Mo DDR (driver: 6.14.0010.4523 newer driver seems not working fine with my PC config)
1024 DDR
Creative Sound Blaster PCI soundcard (driver: 5.01.2501.0000)
1HD 40Go C:\ with Win XP Pro and D:\
1HD 80Go G:\ with FS
2 x 17" CTD monitor (not LCD)
DirectX 9.0c

I know, my PC config is not the best for the moment, I am planning to buy another PC but not before several months...

Please tell me that someone is working to solve those problem...

Thanks a lot for your help

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - SaVas - 10-11-2005

Dan will probably ask for a FsP log or some kind of file (forgot what he calls it) so he can go over it.

Have you tried flying in a different area of the world? I see you fly out of Europe. If you havent tried, give a short flight (hour or so in the
USA) using FsP. 99% of CTD are scenery related.

What paywares did you have installed that you uninstalled?

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Alexair - 10-11-2005

Hello SaVas,

Ok I will try some flight over USA, at this time I have only defaults sceneries and maybe I forgot to mention that I have installed the patch
FS9.1...

Actually I have only 2 payware products: FsPassengers and Level-D Boeing 767-300 both of them are installed. Anyway I tried some flight
with other aircraft...

Thanks

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Dutch64 - 10-11-2005

Hi Alex,

Are you using XP? Is there any message in the event logs, also check some minutes before the crashes. Do you have in your setup "render to texture" on
or off? Do you have the crashes if you hide the mini report?

Martin

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - SaVas - 10-11-2005

OK...also try flying a different aircraft using the same route as you originally tried.

Create a test company and...

Try these each of these:

1. Different aircraft (use a default aircraft) same route EGKK-LFMN
2. Level D 767 and a different route (on different continent)
3. Different aircraft (default) different route (on different continent)

See if any of them still crash to DT

I will try all that and will keep you posted...

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Curtis - 13-11-2005

I honestly think it has something to do with FSP but like you Alexair, I love it so much i can no longer fly without it. I have tried all of the
above sugesstions but nothing has worked with me except a complete uninstall, that is the only time i no longer experience CTD's.
BTW, I even did a complete re-install of FS9 and although it took a while for a ctd to occur with no other add-ons installed, it eventually
came around as of yesterday :-(

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Alexair - 14-11-2005

To keep you posted,

I tried the tricks that SaVas told me above and the result was still the same...

I tried to uninstall IVAP the modul of IVAO for online flying and I have install FSInn instead, the modul of VATSIM for online flying (for those
who don't know this various stuff).

I did 4 flights (Gatwick to nice and back with Level-D and Rennes-Nice and back with Vickers Viking) the result: No CTD at all Smile

Then I tried other flights as I thought that the problem was coming from the IVAO modul abd considering the problem solved, the rsult
was: 2 CTD in 4 flights Grrr

Don't understand anything... Was ok then the problem is back... Look like it still little bit better though (before each time CTD after 1 CTD
every 2 flights). Just to be sure I am still making test and will keep you posted...

Oh by the way, the strange thing is with the IVAP module: I even have CTD when not using it (offlinf flights), just to be sure that you
understood that I even test offline and not all the time online...

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Dutch64 - 14-11-2005

I remember now something from some time ago, you might try to disable fastwrites for your videocard in your bios. (not sure if it will be
applicable for your specific card but nvidia cards are a bit sensitive to this setting) I'm not at home so i cannot find the exact name but
have a look in your bios, maybe it helps.

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Alexair - 14-11-2005

Ok I'll give it a try and keep you posted

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Alexair - 14-11-2005

Hello Dutch64,

I had a look and because I am not good with Bios stuff I am not sure which parameter I have to modify as I didn't found the exact name
you give me.

When you will have time can you confirm what I am looking for?

Thanks for your help

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Sovek - 14-11-2005

this may seem like a supid question, but have you tried uninstalling FS and rebuilding it from the ground up, sounds like something got corrupted.

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Alexair - 14-11-2005

Hi Sovek,

No, there is no stupid question...

Yep I tried to make a total new install of FS9.1 with no positive result concerning CTD...

And by the way, I don't have only CTD, sometime it happen that I have the blue screen with white writing about something wrong. But it is
not very often...

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Dutch64 - 14-11-2005

Hey Alex,

It can differ a bit between several bios but it should be called something like "Fast writes enable/disable" and usually can be found in the display
section of the bios or the AGP section. (It's an AGP card, right?) Here's it's called "Disable Fast writes yes/no.
Also, make sure you have the latest bios version from the motherboard manufacturer and also important, the latest via chipset drivers which you can
find here
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1070

You wrote that you had problems with the latest drivers for your videocard, that might be solved if you use these latest via drivers too. Just give it
a try.

Re: Crash to desktop and flight log issue - Alexair - 15-11-2005

Ok, I have found a software called "SANDRA" http://www.sisoftware.net/index.html?dir=&location=home&langx=en&a=

This software give you absolutely ALL information about your PC and the lite version is free (very impressive soft and french version also).

I used it because I wanted to know the Bios version etc... And I saw that my Bios, video bios, chipset and mother board were not updated
to the latest bios and drivers. I wanted to update all of that but it is definitely too hard for me...

So, probably that my CTD problems are coming for the above... I will try to find a company that is willing to do that at a good price...

Thanks a lot Dutch64, I guess you probably find my problem Top

about my flight logs: I still cannot access them and I cannot send them to my VA neither... I didn't find anything about that in the FAQ or
forum, I just find some people that got the same problem but no solution were given...

Is there a solution or a patch or something like that concerning this issue?
