Newbie + 1 week - RonMac - 25-07-2005 Hi All, OK, after a couple of disasters I finally am getting my act together with good to perfect flights each time. However, I lost points in bad weather when in 737 at 32K bowling along at Mach 78, I was pushed over the limit, so incurred penalties. Can this recognition limit be increased to say 30knots above maximum before penalties? Am I right in saying it does not really matter wether you land at designated runway or not. I was vectored to a visual runway at Le Bourget when cloud level was about 1100 feet! I demanded a ILS runway from controller and was ignored!! I just picked an ILS and landed on it. I was awarded Excellent piloting skills! I am having great fun, and suspect that many approaches will be hazardous with aircraft not leaving runway ahead of you, so go round with missed approach. Great add on.... Re: Newbie + 1 week - pegase - 25-07-2005 Yes we must be very carefull about speed limits. It totally ruin a flight score : +276 bonus for the flight ![]() -600 for overspeed ![]() ![]() Re: Newbie + 1 week - SWAFO - 25-07-2005 An overspeed of 30 knots is pretty excessive. If you were in a 737 (any model for that matter), at FL320, and traveling at Mach .78, you shouldn't have exceeded any speed limits, unless you were experiencing unusual climatic conditions (unusually high temperature, etc.). Re: Newbie + 1 week - JayKae - 26-07-2005 Try to go into your FSUIPC and adjust your windsmoothing in the panel. This should fix the wind problem Re: Newbie + 1 week - Ryanamur - 26-07-2005 VNE = Velocity never exceed. Enough said! Re: Newbie + 1 week - SWAFO - 26-07-2005 Quote:Ryanamur wrote: Well put... Re: Newbie + 1 week - RonMac - 26-07-2005 VNE I agree. However, I was comfortably in the zone, and unusual climatic conditions did push me beyond for about a second. Possibly that is what could be modified, the time before a penalty is incurred. FSUIPC I would love to be able to tweak, as I have a legit copy through Dreamfleets 737 that I bought ages ago, and no longer use. The problem is getting FSUIPC to recognise the legality of my ownership. It seems to only work if you pay the money! E-mails remained unanswered, and I eventually just gave up on FSUIPC. On the subject of penalties, I agree that if we do it wrong, punishment is deserved. I just completed Iceland-Glasgow, and was awarded an average pilot rating. I concurred happily with that rating after this flight, as my landing was approaching 'deep earth gardening' level. In a sense this is the frustration but real value of FSPassengers. I forced the landing and should have went around. Real world would have been a go-around. It reminded me of a real world landing, where as a passenger of a major airline, we landed at McCarron at end of Glasgow/Vegas 767 trip. It was the co-pilot who did a manual landing. I know this, as a very young pilot was ordered by his senior left seat pilot to stand at door to take the passengers flak as they departed the aircraft. As I passed him, I kindly asked wether that was an ILS or Wind Shear landing, and his face went beetroot red! The Captain glared at him, and nodded politely to me. I then asked the Captain whether there was a KWIK FIT tyre fitter around, to which he replied "in USA there is always re treads available and we have just supplied 12 to be re treaded!" One can only imagine the polite language going on in that cockpit during landing! Re: Newbie + 1 week - jboweruk - 26-07-2005 Lets see you say you were doing Mach 78, hmm, 78X560= darn fast and what model 737 was this? ![]() Sorry, you missed the "point" and I couldn't resist. ![]() Re: Newbie + 1 week - RonMac - 26-07-2005 jboeruk, OK. Finally got the point. Then again, my 737 is fast! Just upgraded to 1GB on board memory from 512, and got a Nvidia 6200 (6800?) card for £69! This has 256 and on board graphic processor. So, first flight coming up with everything maxed out. Should be interesting. Re: Newbie + 1 week - SWAFO - 26-07-2005 I just upgraded the videocard, and memory too! I'm running about what you've got. Try to keep it below M0.85 from now on... lol. |
