Will price go down? - Steve - 24-07-2005

I have been playing the demo of FsP since it came out and I think it is a really neat add-on. However, I do not have to money to afford to
buy it at its current price.

Is there a chance in the future that the price will be put down to a more affordable (for me anyway) price. Somewhere around the 20-30
AUD mark.

Thank you so much.

Not to sound mean or anything like that, but I think it's a bit unfair to ask Dan to sell it for $12 (Euro) considering the amount of hours he has put
into it.

$50Aud is also expensive, just ask my wife when I asked her for the program Smile

But then I look at the fun I've had with it and currently I think it's about $1 an hour cost per hour of flying.

Seriously, it's worth buying, I don't buy much but this was certainly one I didn't think twice about after trying it.

If you are tight and don't have enough money, save for 3 months and you'll have your 50 AUD.

Re: Will price go down? - SWAFO - 24-07-2005

You have the internet right, you can't be too poor then. lol. This program was just released, and I don't think it's fair to ask for a price
decrease to suit your needs. Us simmers aren't rich, you've just got to pick and choose your programs carefully. This is a keeper!

Re: Will price go down? - DanSteph - 24-07-2005

I'm sorry that the price might be considered as high by some people but perhaps they missed the ammount
of feature FsP have... I careffuly watched at other add-on price and what feature they offers for this price
and I think FsP have a fair and even low price in regards of the features.

I mean you have several add-on around that do only one stuff and sell $20 or more while FsP include
ton of features.

I would have been able to split it in several small add-on, for example:
-payload editor without need to quit Fs $US 25
-full flight report $US 25
-company managment $US 25
-ATC chatter $US12
-export flight $US15
-key input of instrument $US 15
-record flight on map (better done, not hard) $US 15
-crew and copilot voice $US30

wich make a total of $US162 instead of $US48.
Of course the calculus is flawed but I don't think at all the price is unfair or expensive in regards of features.

And about money I spend several thousand dollars(one years loss of revenue, web site, company )
to make FsP without any garantee and with a familly to feed.

So sorry I don't think the price will go down.

Dan

having passengers on your plane......priceless!

Re: Will price go down? - walterp - 24-07-2005

Dan.
You dont need to justify the price. The price is what it is and you have set it about right.
I bought it without much thought which must mean it was a good price to me.

No, if anything, it should go Up Big Grin

Re: Will price go down? - teemsj - 25-07-2005

Dan,

I don't think anyone can argue with the fact that you deserve to get paid.

I've been lurking on these boards for months and I downloaded your software the first day it became available.
However, I am one of those who feel the price is a little high. I probably woudn't have hesitated at $19.99 USD. (I still might buy when the
budget isn't so tight in my household; I have kids to feed, too).

I'm still not convinced that it's worth $38.50, to me. I would have never downloaded individually all of the small add-ons you list. What I do
like is the crew and co-pilot voice and the full flight report.

As a point of reference, I have purchased other add-ons; ActiveSky, Ultimate Terrain USA and Ultimate Traffic.

I'm sure your loyal customers will flame me for this post. You deserve the following that you've garnered. If you want a less biased
opinion of your software, you might want to check out the newsgroup alt.games.microsoft.flight-sim.

a) Cut the food out of your diet

b) Raise ethe ticket price

Re: Will price go down? - jboweruk - 25-07-2005

teemsj, if you take a look at other crew/pilot voice add-ons alone they are the same sort of price as Dan is offering for so much more. I
have FSHotseat for a copilot, which can take some of the workload, and that hit me around £25 Stirling just for that.

I would not allow that. Your post was polite and you have the right to write your opinion
and I thanks you for it.

I review regulary google & group and see also the negative comments, mainly done by people
that didn't tried it but also of course by some people that tried and don't like it or find it too expensive.
You can't write a program that will satisfy anyone and you can't set a price that will also
satisfy anyone even a $US 1 you will still have people that will find it too expensive Wink

This said in everything balance and $US 20 would put FsP in the range of basic program
that bring only one feature or two wich is totally unrealistic (as asking a big car for the price of a small one)

Anyway if as you stated you would not buy any of the program listed obviously you don't need really FsP
and so, even $US 20 would be too expensive immo.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone get flamed here. In fact this seems one of the friendliest forums I've seen in a long time.

Re: Will price go down? - SWAFO - 25-07-2005

I'm going to have to disagree with teemsj... I think the program has features that are definetly worth it at around $40, and would even be
worth it at $50 (it's like another new game). Any higher, and that'd be pushing it.

You mentioned that you have ActiveSky. How did you justify the price for that one? I still can't justify it, as I really don't see anything it adds
that I absolutely can't live without. Doesn't "FS SKY WORLD 2004" add almost the same things?

I own both Ultimate Traffic, and the Ultimate Terrain USA programs. I fly mainly IFR, so I like the Ultimate Traffic, and find the Ultimate
Terrain to be a nice program, but not necessary (mainly more for that eye candy experience). I think FSP adds just as much (if not a little
more) to the sim than Ultimate Traffic does for me, and MUCH MORE than Ultimate terrain does.

Again, these are just my opinions. I understand and respect yours too.

Though noone asked me, I'll just jump in on this one. Smile
It's definitely not the same. FSW has nothing to do with weather generation, it's just texture sets. Those were added to the newest AS version, which is nice, but what makes AS a great addon is the much more realistic looking weather (mainly due to more diverse cloud formations). AS just takes into account much more values of the real world weather data than FS does.

But if from the screenshots you can't say that it's worth it, then it's probably not worth it - for you. Pretty much the same as with someone who
plays the FSP demo and still doesn't know if he should really buy it. Smile
