War Damage - MarkMcCoy - 23-07-2005

I love what you folks have done in FSPassengers, and Im confident that it was a worthy purchase. I, however, had one concern I was hoping some of you
might be able to provide more feedback on.

For enthusiast reasons, I am currently operating in FsPassengers emulating Iraqi Airways. You might recall an ongoing conflict there over the past
few years? Well, Iraqi Airlines operates between Baghdad and Amman primarily with a few smaller routes in between. The problem I'm encountering
is... well, to be quite frank... getting shot down! I've updated the dangerous war areas cfg file to what I feel represents the current war scenario
in a place like Bagdad, but I have yet to depart ORBS without sustaining serious damage from anti-aircraft and small arms fire. In reality, yes,
there is a threat. However, even the 4 Iraqi Airlines pilots currently flying will admit that you don't get shot at EVERY time you land or takeoff.
It's just an ever-present threat that occasionally surfaces, almost like rolling the dice.

My problem isn't conflicts or even danger. My problem is that FsPassengers seems to rate dangerous war areas almost as "The percentage of how much
you'll get hit" vs. the more realistic "chance of being hit at all, and then the level of severity when it occurs." Turn down the war percentage in
the config file, and you get shot at less... but you still get shot up.

Ideas? Solutions?

Hello Mark,

The dangerous level is done for aircraft operating in dangerous area
IE: STOL aircraft that climb and descent like mad to not stay exposed too much
to possible threat. This lower considerabily the *chance* to get hit.

So, the higher your climb/descent rate is the lower are your chance to get
hit by anything even at 100%

I suggest anyway in your case to edit the "dangerous" and set about 50% or 40%
as you wish, this would be more realistic I think.

At lower than 60% you are not in active war area and you will only be targeted by
occasional snipers.

Else you can set 61% you'll still be in a active war zone but will get lower chance to get
hit.

Hope it answer ?

Dan

I think that'll do it. Thanks for the tip, Dan. Also, in the particular 737-200 I am operating, I get a tail strike even at 5deg pitch during
rotation. Any way I can disable this particular penalty for this aircraft or edit any files to make it actually recognize that I am feet from a tail
strike?

Re: War Damage - MarkMcCoy - 24-07-2005

Anybody?

Re: War Damage - DanSteph - 24-07-2005

About tail stright It may come from an display error of your pitch instrument because
it's matematicall and no tail strike can happen below 10°

the condition are something like "if onground and pitch more than 10° then set tail strike"

Be aware that when your pitched and have perhaps the impression that you are in flight
your main gear might still touch the ground...

hope this help ?

Dan

Re: War Damage - MarkMcCoy - 24-07-2005

Nope. I'm getting a tail strike at almost every rotation in this aircraft. How can I change the settings so this wont occur? It's highly
unrealistic and hinders my FSpax experience.

Re: War Damage - DanSteph - 24-07-2005

than this aircraft might have a flaw and is already pitched more than 0° even fully landed.
wich one is it so I can test ?

732iqzd.zip on FlightSim.com - Iraqi Airways 732.

Dan?

Re: War Damage - VegasFlyBy - 25-07-2005

try downloading an identical aircraft type (doensn't matter what livery) and replace the aircraft.cfg. If its an aircraft.cfg problem that may fix
it.

No dice, tried multiple times. Dan?

Quote:no tail strike can happen below 10°

I beg to differ. Smile The A330 rotates at 8° or less because tail strike occurs at 9°. Not common, but there are "exceptions" to everything.
