Unable to control the plane after engine trouble - PAXSL - 16-09-2005

AFTER TAKE OFF I NOTICE AN ENGINE ASYMETRIC THRUST SO I SET 7700 AND DECLARE AN EMERGENCY
AND AFTER FOUND A
SUITABLE AIRPORT TO LAND I NOTICED THAT I CANNOT CONTROL THE PLANE NEITHER MANUALLY NOR
WITH AUTOPILOT ON .
I WAS UNABLE TO BANK THE PLANE (PSS A320 WITH ENGINE NUMBER 2 OUT)
I THINK THAT ENGINE NUMBER 2 IS CRITICAL FOR THIS AIRPLANE BECAUSE I CANNOT CONTACT ATC
WITHOUT IT RUNNING

AFTER CRASH DEBRIFING TOLD ME THAT I HAD A BIRD STRIKE WHILE TAKE OFF AND I DIDN'T NOTICED
THE TROUBLE BEFORE
26000' FEET ????? THE ASYMETRIC THRUST CAME VERY GRADUALLY

PLEASE WHAT DO U ADVICE ME ? DID I FORGOT TO PRESS A SWITCH FOR STAY IN CONTROL?

ALSO I DIDN'T CUT DOWN THE ENGINE BECAUSE THEYRE IS STILL SOME RESIDUAL THRUST AND AFTER
SHUT IT DOWN THAT
DIDN'T HELP ME ANYWAY

SORRY FOR MY APPROXIMATE ENGLISH

Hi there PAXSL.
Something similar to that happened to me on a single engine Cessna. The lesson learned was to constantly keep an eye on your
gauges.
I am not familiar with the A320, but I would have to assume that a multi-engine aircraft with a missing engine would be very difficult to
control. If there was a button you could use to control the aircraft in the event of an engine failure, why bother having an engine in the first
place? Smile
I think you have been introduced to the nature of flying with a failure.

Also, you may want to consider turning off your Caps Lock. All caps is considered screaming and rude. Just some advice. Wink

Re: UNABLE TO CONTROL THE PLANE AFTER ENGINE TROUBLE - Dutch64 - 16-09-2005

I did had a curious bird also when flying the pss a320 but i was still able to land the plane without too much trouble, on one engine. So I think
something else must have gone wrong in your situation...

Maybe have a look at this linl... I know its a shot in the dark but it kind of sounds similar...

do you remember if it was the left or right engine Dutch?
in my case it's the right engine

I won't even respond if the whole message is in caps. Please use the appropriate case. It's very annoying if your message is in all caps
(I won't even read it). Just a friendly warning.

Thanks!

thank you for your link
it didn't help me much except to know that i'm not the only one to have strange simulator beavior

i'm gonna wait and see if it happen again but i'm still curious why it didn't turn under autopilot while ask to change heading???
maybe as in your link an fsuip conflic?

thank again to take time to answer

Same as you, right engine, thrust went down very gradually in fact, till almost 20% when i was near the airport which i picked for the emergency
landing. I shut down that engine completely when at 20%. But both on autopilot as on manual control it still was quite ok to handle. I do however use
the alternative FDE from Oliveira because they are more realistic than the one which ships with PSS. Maybe there might be an important difference?

If it happens again I would recommend trying a newer version of FSUIPC... and let us know if that was the case.

Oh no! I didn't even read the message. lol

All the worse though that it happened to do with an Airbus. Perhaps I should close this thread!

Re: UNABLE TO CONTROL THE PLANE AFTER ENGINE TROUBLE - Turbine - 29-03-2006

I was taking off on the 737-400 a couple thousand feet off the ground I heard like a beeping sound which was new to me I had no idea until my left
engine shut down my whole aircraft was spinning like a stall. I fell like a rock I had no control either. My speed was stable it was weird but it
was a good experience. Besides making a hole in the ground.
