Failed Update - Leftcoaster - 03-09-2005 Last night I downloaded the update and ran the executable. It appeared to install ok in that it created the file backup folder and ran without any error messages. However, no update was done, the file version showing in FsPassengers is given as the original download and none of the new features listed in the upgrade page are present. Does one need to un-install FSP completely brfore installing the newer version? My copy is purchased and registered but so far requires the add-on FSPassenger.dll file to allow it to run. Does this make any difference? Thanks in advance. Cheers Re: Failed Update - SWAFO - 03-09-2005 The update should install right over your current FSP installation. If there's a problem, backup the appropriate files, remove FSP, and install the updated .exe. That should work with no problems. Re: Failed Update - Leftcoaster - 03-09-2005 Thanks for the quick response. Running the executable after un-installing FSP worked fine and the update successfully runs. Cheers Re: Failed Update - DanSteph - 03-09-2005 might be because you ran Fs9 previously and window XP have done what it love to do: holding file that have been accessed. Sof far the installer was unable to overwrite files... I see no other reasons possible. Did you by any chance shut off your computer before it finally worked ? Dan Re: Failed Update - Leftcoaster - 04-09-2005 Actually Dan, I'm not running XP, I'm still on Windows ME for non FS9 related reasons. As a matter of course, I always do a cold boot before installing any new software, in this case I did one after uninstalling the original FSP installation. Unfortunately (for me anyway) I neglected to back up the proper files and lost all of my airline and pilot data. That was my error and in any case FSP is running fine in the latest version now. Thanks again. Cheers Re: Failed Update - SWAFO - 04-09-2005 Glad you got it working! |
