Grammatical Goofs - snakeboy - 24-08-2005 "Mostly ok appart somes moment." Should be Mostly ok appart from some moments "Passengers where terrified...." Should be.. Passengers were terrified..... Not very important, still the best addon. Dan, did you have an English person check the grammer?. Re: Grammatical Goofs - Capt. Wotan - 24-08-2005 Hate to disagree old boy, but that should actually read: Mostly OK apart from some moments, but even then it's slightly clunky English, perhaps it would read better as below "Flight was largely OK, with some below average moments" Dan is Swiss not English and I think his English is fine, far better than my French, or German. ![]() Re: Grammatical Goofs - Kstinson - 24-08-2005 Who cares how its spelt, you can still read and understand it, can't you? Re: Grammatical Goofs - pagir - 24-08-2005 It's important to get the most perfect product. I know Dan wants to correct those errors. So continue to report those errors! (But please don't begin to correct my english... I know, I know... ![]() So in short: Passengers were terrified..... Flight was largely OK, with some below average moments Pagir Re: Grammatical Goofs - SaVas - 24-08-2005 Dan's English is better than my Swissanese *wink*, however I have him beat on Typonese Re: Grammatical Goofs - ILikePlanes - 24-08-2005 Post Edited ( 08-26-05 06:10 ) Re: Grammatical Goofs - SWAFO - 25-08-2005 Just responding to the subject of this thread: No one's perfect... does it really affect flying that much? A word here and there spelled wrong? Incorrect grammar used occasionally? Dan's French after all! Give the guy a break. Honestly, I've noticed a few mistakes, but won't point them out. Why? They simply don't bother me. For me it also keeps the feel of a product that is "home grown". Something someone worked on for a long time with little help! I know Dan wants a "perfect" product, but I think it's perfect how it is! Think about it... everything has little flaws here and there... NOTHING is perfect! Re: Grammatical Goofs - Shane Herbel - 25-08-2005 I have something to add regarding the word "somes"... As I had a part of grammer in the add-on. Dan and I and the rest of the Beta team did notice that the word "somes" came a up a lot. Dan went through thousands of line of code to correct as many as possible. The text code was even spit up and given to the beta team to search for these errors. In total there was quite a few and naturally since the Beta team is spread across the globe some were missed. And also due to the fact that there were a lot of inside jokes at the time of testing we even left some text easter eggs in there just for the giggle. All others we missed we are greatful for any errors that you submit for correcting in future versions. Another thing you have to realise is that Dan had already written thousand of lines of code before we even got to test the Beta. Hense there was many many many things to correct. In total I'd say that the Beta team did a great job but corrections are still needed. Thanks for your input. Also the demand for the release far out-weighed the few errors remaining, I'd say Dan picked the perfect time for release. Errors in FS9 - Thousands and counting Errors in FsP - Getting less all the time. Thanks for your submission. Re: Grammatical Goofs - Jetsgo - 25-08-2005 I tottally agree with Brad. This program doesn't have a team of 100 working to improve it. It's one person, Dan. If spelling bothers you THAT much, try and ignore it. Although, I don't see why it would. I am a 55 year old ex programmer (25 yrs C++) who's written numerous games and applications so I know a thing or two about how hard programming is. I was gratefull for the help I got from people who pointed out grammatical errors in non English versions. So I was only trying to help!!. As the French would say... J'essaye seulement z'aider, merdi. Oops that should be J'essaye seulement z'aider, merdi, but that's not important, right. It's only a game, lighten up. Re: Grammatical Goofs - DBE - 25-08-2005 Merdi for the clarification, snakeboy! ![]() Re: Grammatical Goofs - Capt. Wotan - 25-08-2005 Personally i think English is a complex langauge, and most English speakers don't observe all the grammatical pretexts; largely because most of them are nonsense! Like Brad i've also noticed many 'goofs', but if you can understand the text it really doesn't matter, i'd rather see new features, then perhaps start working on the small things that annoy people but that they can live with. ![]() Re: Grammatical Goofs - SWAFO - 25-08-2005 Quote:DBE wrote: My mistake... lol. It was late, and I was tired... ahh! Who am I kidding? I thought he was French! Glad to see that some people agree with me about this issue. There's larger issues to work on IMHO. Forget the spelling! Re: Grammatical Goofs - jboweruk - 25-08-2005 I think actually Dan said he is by birth French but lives in Switzerland, though not 100% sure on that. Anyhow I can live with tiny grammar errors since in every other way I can see this is the real deal, it's perfect, the KING of KINGS of add-ons. |
