Failure not a failure? - Slaghead - 01-08-2005 I was just taking off on my way back home. I lifted off fine but as soon as I hit take-off speed, all the lights on my plane went out. I still had an operational engine so I came around and landed back at the airport after calling an emergency. Upon landing and ending the flight, it says that there was no emergency, docked me a ton of money. I have never used any of the other failure setting in FS so I don't know what happened. I didn't hit anything special on the controls when it happened. I was too busy trying to keep the plane straight to get it airborne. When I got back to the gate I checked all the switches and the battery and alternator switches were both on. $250,000 is quite a fine for my little airline of two C182's. Is it possible for a failure to occur because of FsP and not have FsP recognize it? This is the first real failure I've had. The only other problem I've had was caused by me forgetting to turn off the war zone in Oakland. And like I said, I have never used the failure settings in standard FS, nor do I have any other add-on software. Re: Failure not a failure? - jboweruk - 01-08-2005 Did you make sure the Alternators were on?? That's a very common cause of sudden electrics failures, and one a surprising number of people overlook. Re: Failure not a failure? - Slaghead - 01-08-2005 haha It's a good question. I couldn't see any of the switches as I was trying to fly the plane back around without any electronics. When I got to the ground, all of the switches were turned on so I assume yes because I didn't touch any of those except for the Nav light switch. Who knows. I guess I'll see if this problem happens again. Revert back a day in the flight logs? Re: Failure not a failure? - jboweruk - 01-08-2005 best way to check is go into settings/controls, look for the switch marked Generators/Alternators on/off and assign it to a keyboard shortcut. Then do the flight again but without FSP running, if the electrics go out press the key combo you set and if the lights come on check which switch on the panel moved. If you are in the 3d cockpit they may be seperated, offhand I can't remember where the gen switch is but it is next to the Bat switch on the panel and they are normally red. Re: Failure not a failure? - DanSteph - 01-08-2005 I'll see if I can test the electrical level, if it fail I'll then see if the gen are on if not you'll have a penalty... [Edit] thinking about it that may cause problem with all aircraft that don't use common Fs2004 electrical system but their hown private system... (payware aircraft ?) Dan Me too - SE-TMA - 02-08-2005 I've had this problem as well, and I used Dreamwings DeHavilland Dash8-Q400 aircraft. Shortly after takeoff the plane went black. Just started FS and hadn't changed any switches so I'm positive that GEN and ALT where on. I declared emergency and landed, and got fined for false emergency. I've seen this on a few other places on this forum. It's not top priority, but maybe this should be looked into a little more. And again, Dan, thanx for an excellent addon! /SE-TMA Re: Failure not a failure? - DanSteph - 02-08-2005 This failure don't come from FsP so FsP is unaware of it... if your 100% sure that gen were on you might make sure that this aircraft don't have a gauge that set random failure and that all Fs2004 failure are turned off... Hope this help ? Dan Re: Failure not a failure? - SE-TMA - 02-08-2005 Can't test it now, since that particular aircraft has been removed (crappy cockpit and interior work). I only use top-notch work. But if it ever happens again, I'll take note of everything and inform you. |
