Sound Problems - AeroJim - 30-07-2005

Right now i am using the FsPassengers demo and want to buy the whole thing ya know, but when i use the demo i have a problem, the
sound (speakers) start to crackle, fuzz, pop, whatever you want to say and soon it just hurts to keep the sound on, i tried playing FS w/o
FsPassengers and the sound works fine. What should I do?

Re: Sound Problems - SWAFO - 31-07-2005

What type of soundcard/speakers do you have? I'm running a Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS with a Logitech 5.1 560 Watt surround sound
system, and I'll occasionally get the popping/crackling noises in different games. Hasn't happened in FS though.

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 31-07-2005

i'm using simple polk audio speakers, my sound card is a SB! Live Wave Device card.

Re: Sound Problems - SWAFO - 31-07-2005

I can't see why you'd have a problem with the sound after installing FSP, if one didn't exist prior to the installation. Do you have a problem
with the sound if you have FSP installed, but don't start it up? Could it be that one of the sounds FSP creates (like the taxi
enchancements, etc.) is being mistook for a problem? It's happened before!

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 31-07-2005

Well yeah, i am only using the demo right now and also the thing is like its not only during taxi, it gets worse and worse, progressively
until it just is annoying,

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 31-07-2005

Urgh, ok i just did it again, w/o any other add-ons, w/ add-ons, fspassenger looks so awesome but i cant even get through taxiing to the
active before it goes haywire, the last 2 times i tried it it went like this:
1) started fspassenger, boarded, hostess gave pre-flight announcement, began taxiing, than the sound went haywire
2) started fspassenger, about to begin flight, after finished manifest, began to load flight when it went haywire.
I tried to go into the sounds and brought each individal sound out to try to single it out but it didn't work, i have the demo and i really want
to buy, any ideas of what it could be?

Re: Sound Problems - savage - 31-07-2005

I had similar issues before. From my experience, it happened when my PC worked to hard.

Upgrade Smile It will fix the issues. I'd guess you have to little CPU.

Re: Sound Problems - DanSteph - 31-07-2005

either CPU is too busy either sound card or driver are .. hem .. well...

one things that may work :

try to go to DXdiag and lower one notch the "hardware" acceleration of the soundcard...
surprisingly that saved many a.. people that had sound trouble on a lot of game...

Anyway sorry that's not FsP related the sound routine used was tested by 40'000 user
(on one of my freeware) with only a few problems.... So it's more hardware/driver problem.

hope it help ?

Dan

Alright, sound card is updated, everything is up to date, did the DXDiag trick, still happens, right afte ri start flight after manifest w/ FSP. I
really want this, to see if it works, i dont wanna buy a new sound card to find out it doesn't work, what can i do to make my PC 'less busy'
to see if it works?

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 01-08-2005

Alright Dan (whoever) Here is my Prob. I am using a SB! Live Wave Device 5.1 updated drivers, its a pretty standard sound card for
gaming, as much as i woudl love to blame my hardware, it doesn't make sense, is there some hidden bug. I can't seem to pinpoint the
problem, I'll keep searching, I'd really appreciate some mor ehelp.

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 01-08-2005

Ok, so i tried again, this time i boarded AC no problem, than during taxi it started up moderately, than it began to go in and out, i think i
have an idea, i am running a pretty basic stereo system and pretty basic speakers, do you think that this could possible be the reason,
maybe the speakers can't handle the sounds.

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 01-08-2005

Dan, do you think it could be this, or is there something else i could do to make this a little smoother.

Re: Sound Problems - savage - 01-08-2005

Could be, but highly unlikely.

In FS9 sound options, set the sound quality lower... The problem IMHO is FS9 have problems using the card properly. Have a look
arround on AVSIM, there are posts on modifying fs9.cfg to enable 5:1 sound and all that fancy stuff... Perhaps it helps, I don't have money
for a SB! Live - I spend to much on fs9 addons Smile

Re: Sound Problems - AeroJim - 02-08-2005

My sound quality is already at low, what is IMHO? and avsim, sorry to be such an airhad, not completely sure what you all said.

I had the EXACT same problem, what I did, was I turned the sounds: Air Conditioning, Brake, Engine, Roll (and another one in there but I can't
remember...I'm stupid ), off, but I left the sounds: Flight Attendant, Co-Pilot, GPWS, and the other Radio Trasmissions, on, and my problem was solved.
