FSP Crashes the sim. - Zatnikitelman - 22-07-2005 First it is not permanent, second I do not hold Dan, or anyone else who has worked on FSP responsible. What happens is today when I flewthe demo from KSFO to KMCE (Merced, CA) in a cessna 172 with 1 pass. The flight was great but when I clicked the company manager repaired my craft (I used the parking brakes at 10 KIAS on the ground) and I tried to close the manager, the screen went dark, and it said there was some error and flight simulator need to close, do you want to send an error report, I clicked don't send and came straight here. Is this a known problem, and is there a remedy? Thanks Re: FSP Crashes the sim. - twanut - 22-07-2005 I'm having similar problems. Sometimes when I use the FSPassengers interface the FS screen goes black and is prompted to shut down. Other times the screen goes blank on approach and FS is prompted to shut down. Sometimes it flies perfectly with no problems. I'm not blaming anyone either, but most people think its a bad driver or an outdated one. The only thing i don't understand is why several people's drivers got sideways at the same time. Re: FSP Crashes the sim. - tull - 22-07-2005 Well when I first bought Fs Passengers it worked just fine for about 3 days, but for some strange reason now when I am approaching my destination airport all atc is lost...I can hear nothing and then I get the blue screen with warnings and thats it....my pc just freezes. Its happend about a 6 times now. I have absolutley no idea why this happens but it is very frustrating. Anyway I will keep experimenting and hopefully I will geyv to the bottom of it. It is such a great program aswell. I read on simflight.com that there is a patch in the making...is this correct? Re: FSP Crashes the sim. - sascha - 22-07-2005 I believe that sound problems might lie at the root of all the discussed CTD or freeze problems - I seem to have frequent crashes when FSP is trying to run all sounds, especially taxi music or ATC chatter! Do you see a connection there? Cheers, Sascha Re: FSP Crashes the sim. - DanSteph - 22-07-2005 the manager crash might come when you view the statistic and isn't related with other crash it was an owerflow and it is now solved 100% in the incoming update. (workaround until release is to buy one aircraft that you don't use) It seem some crash are related to graphic driver as someone was able to clear it with an update of the driver. (work flawlessly for him now) It seem there is another possible problem that come from "edit voicepack" a feature that is not related to FsP, this may be the famous sound "ATC" CTD... As edit voicepack have released a new version that cause CTD at the exact time of FSP release it might seem come from FsP wich is not.. I join pagir's post that explain that at the end of this post. Anway I suspect that some crash or odd things may come due to the fact that another DLL (not standard DLL) may change the current directory of Fs2004, FsP for now use relative directory I'm now in process to rewrite all the file access with absolute directory. Next version with update is planned soon. Dan Here's pagir post about the "edit voicepack" bug: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- pagir wrote: Did you update the edit voicepack recently??? Some crashes are related with it. See this thread: (404: The post of this link doesn't existe anymore) Those are the dates of the last Edit Voicepack Update from: http://www.editvoicepack.com/DownloadOfflineUpdate.aspx EditVoicepackUpdate2005-07-12_163509.EvpUpd 1872 kb 2005-07-12 16:35:09 6 days EditVoicepackUpdate2005-07-05_181611.EvpUpd 1868 kb 2005-07-05 18:16:11 13 days EditVoicepackUpdate2005-06-29_184331.EvpUpd 1867 kb 2005-06-29 18:43:31 19 days As you know, The voicepack can update itself. So maybe you weren't aware of this update. And as you can see, at least two updates were done about at the same time than FsP was released. Please, confirm if your system is using edit voicepack or not. Pagir --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Re: FSP Crashes the sim. - Zatnikitelman - 22-07-2005 About the patch, will it also be for the demo as that's what I currently have? Re: FSP Crashes the sim. - DanSteph - 22-07-2005 both... it will be basically a full version that you can install over your old one (you don't loose your flight) the only things is that you might reconfigure FsP (keyboard key will be kept as well as basic config but things like more_option.cfg would need edit if you modified it) Also you'll need to register again so keep your pass handy. I'll see if I can post only the patch with the file modified but it's complicated to maintain and a call for error so I think there will be only a "full" version. (demo) Dan |
