AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! Feature request... - silo - 21-07-2005

Took off this morning from KSFO headed to KATL. Beautiful flight, 100% satisfaction rate, just about to start the descent
and...puff...ELECTRICITY WENT OUT! I'm still cursing and I don't believe I'll stop until after falling asleep tonight.
Anyway, would have been nice if FSP had an autosave feature where you can decide the time between autosaves and maybe disable
them below 10000 feet. That way we would be able to restart from when the problem happened.

Gotta go now...cursing attack Wall Worry

Just disable failures then lol

Real pilots don't have autosave Wink

Disabling failures would not have changed anything

& Real aircraft don't run on mains electricity Smile

Re: AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! Feature request... - DanSteph - 21-07-2005

that doesn't look like a FSP failure perhaps you forget to put the GEN on ?

Dan

lol Dan lol

If I read your messsage correctly, Silo, I'm pretty sure you should call your electricity provider. Tell them to make an option "no electrical
failure on the system allowed".

lol

Maybe you should also telle them to "put the GEN on" as Dan said Smile

Re: AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! Feature request... - silo - 21-07-2005

How about a nice uninterruptible power supply (backup battery)?
"If you buy FSP today we will give you a free UPS backup battery for your PC so you'll have time to save your flights should the electricity
fail!!!"

I called "Water and Power", they said they don't have that option yet.

Ok, I guess that means that we'll discard this idea...

Re: AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! Feature request... - SWAFO - 22-07-2005

I was thinking the same. You could buy the UPS system. I've never had a power failure while flying the sim, but I don't want to jinx myself!

Re: AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! Feature request... - pilot3033 - 22-07-2005

"Hello, DWP? Yea, I would like to call and request that the "Power" Failure options be turned off in the entire network. Can You do that? It would
raise power costs and usage by well over %75....um....yea?...Thousands of dollars? er....ok...nevermind"

Haha, got a good lauge at Dan's post! Sorry Dan, it's just funny Smile

Autosave would be nice, although It's not something I would put on the top 5 list for an update. At least for me.

Silo,
I can't believe that the reasoning behind people wanting to use an autosave feature is just to redo a flight
from the time your aircraft was flying "Perfectly". I can fully understand people needs to have an impecible
record of the Virtual Company but really if you set your failures you should be ready to roll with the punches
and take any kind of failure thrown at you. Landing it safely is the part where YOU as the pilot should happy
about how YOU handled the situation. If I was to view your flight logs I wouldnt not care if I saw a blemish
in your flight plans, the part I would look at is how YOU handled the situation. Would I be safe to assume you
left the room to go to the toilet and something sent wrong between the first and second act so to speek. LOL.

Simply because saving isn't any realistic, and i mean any.

Neither is flying a 747 in your underpants (I hope). Still I'm sure this has been done by FS pilots.

"Realistic" is a flexible term when it comes to games and sims. Wink

Meaning realisitc inside the simulation program, what happens outside of it is another question Wink

Lol, I absolutely didn't read it as a physical loss of electricity, sorry about that I'm stupid
Now, Dan, there's something for you to implement in cooperation with all electricity providers world wide, no electrical failures while in
FsP Smile

Re: AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! Feature request... - joca133 - 09-04-2006

Just one question: In real life aircrafts use Microsoft® Windows®?
The lack of a saving option is deceiving and a crash after a 10 - 11 hours flyght that has notting to do with the aircraft or the pilot is
deceiving. Now it would be nice if there was an OPTION so you could choose btwn auto-save on or off so VA pilots could be happy too by
taking irrational risks (as in a inland electrical power failure). I know and I have been to the FAQ section that it is considered impossible
to have the save option working for everyone, I am just defending my point of view as if there was such an option.

lol this is a reallly old topic and this has been discussed many times, and it can't be done...
