BCN/STROBE button and penalilzation - AltairZQ - 16-07-2005

I'm a little tired of being penalized every time for leaving the STROBE lights on in the parking ramp, because of this button having both
BEACON and STROBE lights in the Cessna.

Is there any way of solving this while keeping the Realistic light penalty? Can it be edited somewhere to reduce the Strobe light
penalty or something? I looked into the more_option.cfg but it's not there.

Maybe adding a button on the Cessna panel so you can have one for BEACON and another for STROBE?

yes the way to go is to replace the button with two others that
can set separately strob and landing light...

Just to add, I always get penalised for leaving the landing light on when it's clearly not. This is in my SF260.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Alan

do you have one unique button for light ? is this a real button connected to the FS's light value ?

Ok will try to do that... getting into panel editing. Well at least I added the belt button with no problems Flower

Thanks!

Well, I switch the BCN/STRB-Button in my Cessnas ON when rolling on the runway and OFF when vacating the runway and I don't get a penalty, although I
have realistic light penalty on.

Its not that realistic because you turn off the Beacon-light when leaving the runway, but who cares? At least it works for me ;-)

Felix

You turn the BEACON light OFF with engines running and don't get a penalty? You have to tell Dan about that!

I never tried it, but I don't want more unrealistic go-arounds.

Re: BCN/STROBE button and penalilzation - AltairZQ - 17-07-2005

I changed the lights in the aircraft.cfg panel, coupling NAV and STROBE together, and leaving BEACON alone. And It works, looking the
Cessna from the outside view now I can have only BEACON on, and since NAV and STROBE are switched on at the same time, when
flying a Cessna that don't go over FL100, I thought I had the solution.

But no, FsP is still thinking that STROBE is on when the plane is on the parking ramp, when it's clearly not, I switched it off when exiting
the runway, along with the NAV lights of course.

Can you do anything about that?

(Finding the gauge having beacon and strobe separated for a Cessna is becoming a pain)

This is how the aircraft.cfg looks now:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit
light.0=3, -3.03, -18.11, 3.58, fx_navred
light.1=3, -3.03, 18.11, 3.58, fx_navgre
light.2=3, -21.45, 0.00, 1.95, fx_navwhi
light.3=3, -3.33, -18.31, 3.58, fx_strobe
light.4=3, -3.33, 18.31, 3.58, fx_strobe
light.5=1, -21.52, 0.00, 7.40, fx_beacon
light.6=4, -2.24, 0.00, 2.20, fx_vclight

Re: BCN/STROBE button and penalilzation - AltairZQ - 19-07-2005

Any idea why FsP is still saying that the STROBE light is on after changing the switches?

Re: BCN/STROBE button and penalilzation - Steve Mc Lean - 29-07-2005

Hi,

You"ve got the wrong type of light selected for a strobe, value 2 instead of 3 : 3=2. 4=2, as of now it still sees it as a nav light even though
it flashes.

Cheers!

Steve

Yes that was the idea coupling NAV and STROBE and leave BEACON alone.

The values you mention are the original ones.

Anyway, I coupled NAV and BEACON and this is working, not too realistic maybe but it's ok.
