Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - AltairZQ - 08-07-2005 I took 2 passengers in my Cessna for a local flight so they could enjoy the views, and then surprise, after a 1h flight, Fsp says I got 0€ and 0nm.... Is any way to make FsP track the miles flown and not just the distance between the starting and ending airport? Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - DanSteph - 08-07-2005 no, the flight distance is from point to point because your passengers don't care if you turn during one hours around the same point, what they want is travelling from one point to another.. (in brief you cannot make simple demo flight and earn money, your supposed to transport passengers) Dan Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - bushsimmer - 08-07-2005 the way i work around that is to take my sightseers from my start field and fly them some 20 miles to another, making sure i add the time for the sightseeing, etc. your company made some money, maybe. then after they buy some overexpensive souvenirs from a distant 3rd cousin of yours, take them back to their original field. mo money. fun. of course you gotta do your planning, as in real life; cant just get up and go into the crowded skies anymore. have fun. Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - briansommers - 08-07-2005 thats gotta be changed! in real life you can pay a pilot to take you sightseeing and then back at the same airport, this def. needs to be added! thats one of the things i wanted to be able to do Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - DanSteph - 08-07-2005 Sure but how to calculate the income then ? people just need to turn round and will earn money for that... worse, they will get more money for a "loose" flight then a guy that took care to optimise the travel.... In real life tickets price are based on distance, not flight time. And FsP wasn't designed as a "aircraft tour" Dan Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - bushsimmer - 08-07-2005 yep, maybe dan, can add this little capability into this sweet prog. maybe including a scenario configuration as a sightseeing one-field thingee and the prog reads the capabilities of this scenario cfg that this type of one-field operation is ok should one land at the commencing field. Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - DanSteph - 08-07-2005 that could be a parameter "calculateIncomeOnFlightTime" for example... (in more options ?) Dan Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - bushsimmer - 08-07-2005 there ya go. not to be used as default, but can be implemented for certain situations. a bit tricky as to its GOOD use, but in the instance brian s mentions it is perfect. Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - pagir - 08-07-2005 the "sightseeing tour ticket" could be charged only when departure and arrival airport is the same. Could be another slider: "Sightseeing tour" setting a fixed amount of money and only avalaible for light aircraft. Should not take in account cargo! Could be fun... Pagir Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - picto - 08-07-2005 Bah, you pay for a "First flight" ( baptême de l'air in french, do not know in english ) And, when you do, you're a passenger, and as a passenger you pay, and the company doing such flights earns money... Where is the problem to do that in FsP ? ![]() Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - bushsimmer - 08-07-2005 Quote:pagir wrote:reminds me of the george carlin bit where he says no matter what peops are doing they gotta take "their stuff". i remember going on a sightseeing venture once, just a bus around a city in france many moons ago. the person i was with take 2 bags of "stuff". didnt want to tell her how much of an idiot i thought she was but when one of her friends asked her why she bought two carry-on bags of "stuff" she retorted she "just had to". her friend only had one large bag of "stuff". musta been a bus of sightseers with about 20 bags of "stuff" 30 sightseers in a bus, from which disembarked twice only to use the toilet and get some food. then my friend and her "stuff' buddies took their stuff off the bus when we got back to the hotel, stored in their rooms and left for shopping for ... more "stuff". might wanna keep a small bit of cargo in the sightseeing chumpie. "stuff"??? ![]() Pagir Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - bushsimmer - 08-07-2005 nah, on sightseeing buses they dont calculate weight. thank goodness. aircraft everything is based on weight. Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - AltairZQ - 08-07-2005 Dan, there are lots of companies that do that, many passengers pay for sightseeing all over the world. I know because I am one of them. If the start and ending airport is the same, make the calculations based on the time of the flight. Wouldn't that work? It's just an IF. About abusing this, is just as easy abusing a long, straight flight for hours on autopilot. Re: Local flights, starting and ending at same airport, 0€ income? - ello - 09-07-2005 Maybe, to get around the problem of pilots taking a long route just for more income, you could do it so that you only get money based on flight time if you start and end at the same airport. If it's different airports, do it on distance? |
