Development News 5 november 2015

After several month of work what I have so far in november:

-The installer is fully functional for P3D v2 and ready for v3 (That I don't have yet). If you have FsPassengersX 2015 edition the
installer will ask if you want to continue your career on Prepar3D and copy all the files. For older versions you should do the copy manually, but all
flight databases are compatible anyway from Fs9 to P3D (New features are simply ignored on older version)

-All utility work 100% on FsPassengersP3D (voicepack, language Map, Payload editor, aircraft browser)

-The local documentation is ready (110 in game help file) as well as in game texts and I modified my packing system so I can maintain it
up to date for all versions in same time. (FSX & Prepar3D). This is a great gain of time for future update of FSX/Steam/P3D and it will also minimize
the risk of errors

Speaking about this, I modified my whole "dev center" to make update of the different versions much more simpler: I'll work on the same
source code for all versions, the compilation directive simply change some lines that are specifics to one version.
So, if I modify a gameplay stuff in code, it will be updated for all versions, I only need to compile, pack & release again all versions.

For those that are interested in C++/Asm code Wink , it look like this

-FsPassengersP3D for Prepar3D

Work at about 95% on Prepar3D version v2.5
Common features work, I can make a complete file, get the report and register the flight.
What miss are some failures (as belly landing) that require complex "hack" in asm and It take an unpredictable amount of time to be completed
(I can be puzzled by one during several days while another take only a few hours)

-About P3D version and FsPassengers compatibility

I work yet on P3D 2.5.12944, FsPassengersP3D will not be compatible with previous version.
Once FsPassengers fully functional on 12944, I'll update to the latest version and make it compatible also so FsPassengers work with the last two
2.5 patch

Once done, I'll get P3D v3 and make the same work, if they didn't changed the core code to much it can be a breeze (or hell if they modified tricky
things)

-Release date of FsPassengersP3D

At first it doesn't seem that there is much work to do. but the hell is in detail: I can lost 10-15 days on one feature or problem and Beta test can
also reveal odd problems that take time to solve.

I hurry to get it ready at last for christmas 2015 but it's hard to give a date. It can be before... or if all goes wrong... after.
In anyway, I'll keep you informed here.

Thanks for support and patience.

I have been considering getting P3D with all they have said about VAS management . Joe, let me know if you get yours and what you think about it.
Thanks

Re: Blog devellopment thread about FsPassengers3D for Prepar3D - Joeflyer - 05-11-2015

I've had P3D for almost 2 years and am currently running 2.5. I haven't populated it with heavy addons, so I can't say anything about the poor VAS
usage. I haven't had a issue with it. I know people have had VAS issues but too many tend to crank up the sliders, install the heaviest of addons and
expect smooth performance without the dreaded OOM happening. It was and is the same way with FSX.

Re: Blog devellopment thread about FsPassengers3D for Prepar3D - Danielmd11 - 05-11-2015

I'm glad to see your back Dan and further developing your brilliant program.

I've been using it all these years with FSX, painstakingly trying to keep it going with each new computer I've bought and with each new version of Windows.

Recently though I finally had to throw in the towel when I couldn't get FSX to reinstall at all, no matter how hard I tried.

I'm downloading Prepar3d V3 as I type this and I searched google to see if there was any way I could get FSP to work with it. To my surprise I found this thread with you
stating that you're currently developing for it!

It's a brilliant program and I've never been able to find any kind of replacement for it. I simply can't fly without it now. So I wish you all the best of luck and I hope to see it on
the downloads section soon.

Thanks for kind words Wink

I installed first P3D on my old computer and I had a lot of OOM when I pushed the sliders to my expected level of rendering. I was very frustrated so
I bought new hardware components (2013-2014, way less expensive) and made a new PC with windows 7.

Finally I got this rendering on my 2560x1444 monitor without any more OOM & crash and my jaw dropped:
"Prepar3D 2.5 with Aerosoft DHC6"
http://orbiter.dansteph.com/screenshot/dansteph/Prepar3D003.jpg

Virtual cockpit view
http://orbiter.dansteph.com/screenshot/dansteph/Prepar3D002.jpg

For my pleasure I started a bush flight journey with the DHC6 and missed badly FsPassengers to record the flights Smile
Month later, here I am, ready to continue my bush flights, well....when I'll have time...

FSX & P3D are not forgiving, you really need to tune the settings for your hardware to get good result and you need to adjust them in the cfg files
(configuration dialog is not enough detailed)

Yet I get a score of 9788 at 3DMark, it's not high end, but it's sufficient to get a smooth FPS on the screen above.
Here is my test with hardware components: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6576213 (since I moved to Windows 7 x64)

I have heard that Lockheed Martins team have finally got the old scenery to flush correctly. So now what you have passed does not stay locked in the VAS. I am at the
stage of considering buying this program. I still wish they could get to a 64 bit application, but maybe they finally got the 32bit platform working.

The 64bit version is a bit like fsx's were Microsoft didn't make a 64 bit version and P3D came from the commercial version of fsx

nice work Dan!

Re: Blog devellopment thread about FsPassengers3D for Prepar3D - Joeflyer - 07-11-2015

Ok, now I have P3D 2.5 and 3.0 on separate drives. I'm ready for FsP to populate both Smile

Re: Blog devellopment thread about FsPassengers3D for Prepar3D - Fredcardoso - 07-11-2015

Hi Dan!

Great work, keep it up!

I have one question, I bought a few months ago FSP for FSX but not much time later I started using P3D V2.5.

Do I need to purchase this FSP version again or can I use the same key as for FSX?

Thank you Smile

Re: Blog devellopment thread about FsPassengers3D for Prepar3D - DanSteph - 08-11-2015

You'll have to purchase it again. FsPassengersP3D is a separate product as stated in the first post.

Update from FsPX 2008 to Steam 2014 was free and the steam version will requires constant update.
The income are simply not sufficient to allow me to continue to work and maintain two different versions that patch frequently.

But FsPassengersP3D 2015 will work on P3D 2.5 and 3.0, no additional fee.
I would like also to make a rebate for customer of FSX & Steam but this depend if the online store can recognise your FspX purchase and apply
automatically a rebate for your FsPP3D purchase ? I didn't contacted them about this yet.

Okay back to work... Smile

Dan

Development News

Ho ho ho [Image: t7709.gif] <--- (voice of Santas Claus when he's happy)

I was puzzled by the failures functions since weeks,[Image: wonder.gif]
I wasn't able to find the new value in Prepar3D using all the trick I know.
Today, I tried a new trick, mix of knowledge and intuition and BINGO ![Image: flower.gif]
A good part of the failures functions are OK ! This made my sunday !
