Beware of airport surface vehicles! - Spectre230 - 22-07-2011 I have a good PC so I like to run FS scenery and objects high... I just find a busy major airport more realistic. I have just endured my third unwarranted ATTACK by an airport service vehicle. After a perfect 1800 nm flight and excellent landing I was taxiing to the gate and was literally 3 feet from the parking line at the gate when a fuel truck hit the TAIL of my plane at 3 knots ![]() Result: -850 points, 1.2 mil repair bill, reputation down 3.3%, Ins up .1% 6 dead, 9 injured....................PILOT ERROR ![]() It's sad that I have to downgrade the airport scenery density (and experience) just to avoid unwarranted penalties like this. Re: Beware of airport surface vehicles! - marianoberna - 22-07-2011 I have object density at a maximum, and also realism to maximum (incl. collisions, etc) and never had a collision with airport ground traffic... they just pass right thru the plane, as if they where made of ectoplasmic metal ![]() Re: Beware of airport surface vehicles! - Spectre230 - 23-07-2011 Ground vehicles used to harmlessly pass through my plane...................before FsP ![]() Of course, I could understand the penalty if I did something stupid like trying to park the plane INSIDE the terminal. Re: Beware of airport surface vehicles! - marianoberna - 23-07-2011 Well I use fspX and don't have the problem... I'm intrigued. Maybe one of the guys with most experience in the forums could help... Meanwhile, can you tell us anything regarding your fspX installation, if you are running a scenario, wich one it is. Also, something that may help is keep the dynamic ground scenery to the max, but, in your FSX.cfg, under the [realism] section, add the following line CrashWithDyn=False It might help you solve your trouble. Re: Beware of airport surface vehicles! - timtomairways - 23-07-2011 this problem has been reported before. you have to turn off FSX's detect crashes and damage. this should fix the issue. dont worry FSp is smart enough to detec crashes even with this off Re: Beware of airport surface vehicles! - Spectre230 - 23-07-2011 Quote:timtomairways wrote:Thank goodness, I wouldn't want FsP to miss an opportunity to destroy me! I'm good enough at that myself ![]() Re: Beware of airport surface vehicles! - BluePhoenix - 26-07-2011 I was getting irritated by the same problem, thank god I found this thread. Re: Beware of airport surface vehicles! - overkiller - 29-07-2011 At Boston Logan airport scenery (forget who made it, its excellent BTW and FREE), there are vehicles traveling around the airport. I believe that in the airport files, they are set to NOT cause crashes as I've run them over numerous times without problems in FSPax or FS itself. I HAVE crashed into Boston scenery (a building) by accident and caused FS to "crash" and FSPax to nearly total my airplane and dock me points. So, at least at Boston Logan, the vehicles are fair game. BTW I downloaded KDEN from Avsim and flightsim.com and both airports cause some random scenery "crash" in the middle of a taxiway. FSPax was really pissed at me for that one. I uninstalled that airport and use the FS default KDEN. No more problems other than a dent in my points and wallet. |
