Placing alt airport in GPS - Aviation-Fan987 - 11-06-2011 Ok, so let's say that you declared an emergency because there was something had gone wrong on board, and you weren't going to making it to you your destination airport. Could you place would there be a list of alternative airports in the GPS? When you highlight a airport. press the enter button (on the GPS not your keyboard) to bring up the airport info. including name location fuel runway dimentions surface type, approaches. ECT. Whiel in this page. pres the direct to button. and hit enter twice. this will make the diurect line from you present position to the selected airport It takes a total of 60 seconeds if you know your way around the GPS, and find a sutibal airport right up front. Re: Placing alt airport in GPS - timtomairways - 11-06-2011 defautl ATC does not support emergincys. you can request a destination change (if your already IFR) or request to open a IFR flight plan to your selected Alternet (this will bring up the default flight planner so you have to find the airport there to) this is kinda like a popup IFR clerance, even thoue the controller reads back As field. Your flight while continue with a new GPS route.
