Congratulations to all.......... - TrevorSP - 18-03-2011

I have been “playing” MS Flight simulators since they very first came out! I am a MS Partner and have worked in IT since 1976, and still do,
so I am an old fogey compared to most of you I suspect!
I thought I had found the ultimate add on that actually works, when I found FS Earth.
The set up I use is two monitors, and a laptop to fly; one for the main flight deck, with the second screen holding all the overhead
panelling, and other controls, I don’t like the 3D view, I much prefer this setup. It keeps my “flying screen” clear and all the controls are
neatly stacked on the right screen. FS Earth comes in as it runs on my laptop and shows me exactly where I am all the time on Google
earth, as well as where all the AI Aircraft are too!
So I was happy with my setup, but started to get bored with it, because there was still that “something” missing. So I did what I rarely do,
because, in my opinion, a lot of them don’t work, I started looking at the flight Sim boards around and seeing what updates were available
etc.
I found FS Passengers and for the first few hours it didn’t work, it was that old chestnut, the file called UIAutomationCore.dll !!! But it didn’t
take long to find a version and get FSX up and running again. I hasten to add, this was nothing to do with the installation of FS
Passengers, I just happened to change my Antivirus program at the same time as installing FS Passengers.
So I thought I was sorted before, three screens in constant use and all making it a good “game” to play. HOWEVER, ONLYL NOW IS IT
REALLY COMPLETE.
FS PASSENGERS, has added the missing part, the last part of the jigsaw as it were. It is well built, unlike, in my opinion, 95% of the other
stuff you can buy for FSX! It works 1st time, and runs well, with NO FRAME RATE drop that I can detect, and is, to phrase it in one word,
Fantastic.
My congratulations go out to all those who built, tested and released this software. It is one of the very few add-ons for FSX Acceleration
Pack, that works as it says it does and just sits in the background with no frame rate drop, doing a fantastic job.
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL.

Welcome, Trevor Top I'm sure Dan will enjoy reading your message.

And I thought that I was almost the oldest one on the forum...aside from Apache lol I'd say you have just a few years on me.
I can tell you for certain that if I had not used FsP (for FS9) initially several years ago, I would not even give flight simulation the time of day.
It would be absolutely boring! Then I added FSX on another hard drive and began using FsPX. Doubled the fun!

Although you two both beatme hands down on years lol I would have to second Joe's point about flight sim - I've always loved flying, but thought by
the time FS9 came out that it was certainly lacking something that would make it far more immersive, so when FSX appeared I actively went looking for
an add- on that would change not only the way I flew, but also changed the bare bones of flight sim to become more exhilarating. FSP for FSX turned
out to be the add-on that did all that. Had it not been for FSPX, poor FSX would have been sitting on my CD shelf gathering dust many years ago!

Skins don't worry me to much to be honest, I have picked up decent ones here and there, some paid for some not etc.

I am really talking about the BIG PROGRAMS, that you pay BIG MONEY for, which I don't really want to mention on here, but you pay loads
and if you haven't got an up to date dedicated Games PC, then you are stuffed! They always forget to mention that!

Being in the business, my PC is always the last to be upgraded etc. in the family and it’s a big one (family)!

My PC is three years old, runs an old Dual Core processor, has 4gb of RAM and had an old ATI card in it.
I recently changed it for a PNY GeForce GTS450 graphics card for under a hundred quid from PC World and reloaded the whole PC.
It runs:
Win7Ult 32bit
Office 2010 (full)
Many Security programs and database controllers and assorted other programs etc., which I test and write about.
Not sure whether I have mentioned that I write for several newspapers and magazines, mainly IT related, but a few games mags too!
FSX plus the Accelerator Package
FS Passengers
FS Earth

I am now getting at least 40fps and an average of much more thanks to that simple graphics upgrade!

Many programs I try, just trash the Frame Rate, so they come straight off again.
So like I say, this is stunning stuff compared to the normal rubbish I see. The flexibility for the user is great !!!!

For instance, the FS Sim I am running at the moment, involved me updating the war zone! Two seconds looking at the help file and done!
Fly from Malta with a full load of supplies and a few passengers, mainly 1st class (Diplomats perhaps),
Then once in Tripoli, a quick turnaround to Carthage to take a full load of evacuees! Then back to Malta.
Great stuff !!!
This stunning add-on just gives the imagination an even better nudge whilst playing Smile
