flaps on take off? - jima - 11-01-2011
does anyone have this problem or is just me? for some reason i cant set flaps for take off and i get penalised evry time. is there
something im not doing or is there a fault in the program? any info would be much appreciated. thanks

Are you using your keyboard or your stick? Is this a new problem? What kind of plane (i.e. helicoptors don't have flaps)?

i use both but mainly joystick. dehavilland dash8 and a319 is what i like to fly but it dont really matter cos i tried several planes and i have
the problem with all.

Are they the default aircraft, or ones you've downloaded an added onto flight sim? Also, have you checked the key mapping for flaps up and down
incase it's been changed or is in conflict with another add-on.?

i have looked at FAQ and cant find answers im seeking, thank you for your response. no the planes i mentioned are planes i have
downloaded but it dont make any difference cos even the default planes on fsx i have the same problem. you mentioned key mapping?
how do i check that? im not brilliant on computers and i dont have much knowledge on being a pilot i just like to fly planes im a complete
novice but seeing as your a moderator you obviously know alot more than me. your help would be much appreciated. many thanks.

in flight sim setting menue click controles (or it might be keys). scroll throue the list to the flaps key settings
default keys for flaps are
F5- flaps up
F6- flaps up 1 increment
F7- flaps down 1 increment
F8- flaps full

thanks mate i know all that and tried it. just been on fsx and noticed something im only getting penalised on vfr flights and not ifr. till now
only been doing vfr but last couple of flights i done were ifr and not got penalised. is that what most of you guys do? ifr? if it is please try vfr
and see if you have same problem i do. thanks to all who have tried to help.

Flaps penalty doesn't care about ifr or vfr. Have you looked at your aircraft.cfg to see what your flap blowout speed is?
