My goodbye to the FsP Forums - Anastasios - 21-12-2010 When FsPassengers was still very young, I quickly became a member of this forum, I couldn’t wait to start using it! As I just started working in aviation I enjoyed sharing my experiences with all the aviation enthusiasts here. FsP became very popular in a short amount of time and Dan received all the 'bravo's' he earned. After a while some people began questioning the customer support of this product. Also the 'friendliness' of the forum began to change a little bit. There were especially some frustrations about the same questions being asked over and over again (I am to blame as well). ‘Search the forums first!’, began to be a sentence we saw regularly on the forum. After 4 years of being a member of this forum, I now feel rather ignored. I’m very tired of all the excuses about the ‘private life’ of the creator of this program. He is very much protected by people, but we have to be honest; he is a very poor manager. Especially about the promises about updates I am very disappointed, together with many other customers. And we can not dare to ask questions about it! Just sit and wait, like a good, dumb, FS fan. It is nothing personal, but it is business. When you run a company where people pay you good money for a service or product, you have to deliver. That’s what you get, when you start a business! Just like this one, called FsPassengers. I personally gave information to the creator about some real-life procedures. I offered my assistance. Absolutely nothing was done with my offer. Strangely enough, some other developers do listen to people from the ‘real world’. And they create, they proceed, they continue to develop. In FsPX there are just very few improvements. FsP remains where it is… even after 4 years. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy the program. But in 2010, 4 years with the same program is quite some time… My life became very busy lately, so every now and then I checked on the forum. I read some posts, many were uninteresting I must be honest. And in a very short amount of time there were suddenly a lot of new moderators, some who were on this forum shorter than I was. And the attitude of some of them annoyed me very much. In the last 4 years I shared some adventures with the forum, I shared the loss of my dog which was an emotional moment for me. I shared you my joys of working for a great airline. But now, generally, I just don’t feel welcome anymore. New customers are chased away, questions may not be asked. Threads are brutally closed. Be a fan or stay away. There is no room for discussions and opinions, which is a very shame. I will still continue to use FsP, but I will no longer contribute to this forum. After this post I will delete my profile. Kind regards, Tasos Papaioannou. Anastasios. Re: My goodbye to the FsP Forums - timtomairways - 21-12-2010 sad to see you go. i do agree with you (to a extient). i do think FSP should have better support, but i also know Dan is the only one working on this product. and as of the last sitrep from him he wasen doing well medical wise. I will aslo sate that FSp isnot the only FS related fourm with this "be a fan or get out" mentality". In fact alot (IE: most of them) of fourms are like that. I think part of the problem is the lack of emotion in typed messages. i myself can come across as sounding like a bit of an ******* sometimes, when in reality im attempting (altho failing) to be curtious. I dont look for things to improve in this or any other FS fourm. any time soon. if ever. Re: My goodbye to the FsP Forums - pvjinflight - 21-12-2010 Yeah, no one is working with development of Fspassengers anymore... Its not problem for me, but i think that it would be good if developed could be honest and update old information and announce that new version is not coming instead of letting community down without information. Good that there is another fspassengers kind of project that is living, maybe in future people will switch to it. But im not blaming him from that, maybe there is some real reason behind it... Post Edited ( 12-21-10 13:04 ) Re: My goodbye to the FsP Forums - DanSteph - 21-12-2010 I'm deeply sorry to hear that you leave but I must correct some things. In all forums one tend to be tired after a while and have the feeling that "good ol time" passed. Reason is that post sink quickly and all the work done is to redo again, and again, and again It get even worse when the forum is dedicated to one subject only because after several thousand post almost all issues or questions had an answer or where discussed and as old member you have only the choice to make again (and again) the same reply or discussion, ignore the newbies or roughly reply "use search". None of the previous are very satisfying for you or for the forum ambiance. That's forum life. For support pvjinflight is right, I know there is some information that I left in wrong shape and that some last update should be done for more common problem. My fault I'll try to clean that so things will be clear. Cheers, Dan Re: My goodbye to the FsP Forums - DavidK - 22-12-2010 Thank you, Dan, for your post. Some people had become concerned (worried) about you. Is it possible to share FSP/FSPX's future development with someone else (or even more than one person) without too much complication as regards your ownership and income from it? I think this is something you might consider seriously, not least for the sake of customer support. For my part, I repeat my offer to volunteer corrections to the texts appearing in the program's windows, dialogs, etc (i.e. provide them for free). I think this would give the program much of the shine it deserves, especially at 29.99 / 36.90 euros. Re: My goodbye to the FsP Forums - Powerke - 02-01-2011 Sad to see you depart Anastasios... I had desided to do what you do now over a year ago....for almost the exact same reasons. The friendly community is as good as gone...the FAQ are used as an exuse for difficult questions. Mostly regarding problems that the mods dont consider a problem. FSPX is in the eyes of a select few just perfect....fact is ...most ppl would like to see some changes made. Including me....i enjoyed my time with FSPX....but the promised update turned out to be hot air. Asking a question about the promised updated is treated like blasphemy by some mods. This made me leave FSPX....and even quit flying with FS. On occasions i still check the forum ....to see if some news about an update or patch is active. But to be honest....i really doubt that we wil ever see an update. My best to all that still enjoy this program.....it is good , only shame is it doesnt get patched or updated. Re: My goodbye to the FsP Forums - Joeflyer - 03-01-2011 YWG, what in Whiskey's reiteration of the forum rules pointed out anything to do with Powerke's post? Did he specifically refer to him? Absolutely not. Are you responding to Whiskey's post just to antagonize or promote anything useful? I dare say not on the latter. Re: My goodbye to the FsP Forums - Powerke - 03-01-2011 * 1.1 We take the "Be Polite" rule very seriously. We do not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned without warning. If members , fans , sim pilots , real pilots ans mods would simply obey this rule.....things would go alot smoother in here ![]() As for the 2 posts above .....YWG is wondering why a wall of text (forum rules) is added after my post. It does make it look like its targetted against my original post. So his question is valid in my opinion. And what does he get for an answer ?? Rule 1.1 ppl ![]() Re: My goodbye to the FsP Forums - Joeflyer - 03-01-2011 Power, I say this...if you have an issue with any of the Mods, please inform any one of us personally through pm. We aren't going to debate your moderator complaints in the forum. I can assure you, neither of us are being intentionally rude or unpleasant, You obviously have a beef with one or all of us that is not going to be solved here. The bickering ends here. |
