Bird Strikes?! - JetlinerX - 02-02-2010

Hey Pilots! -
I just read a thread that mentioned they had a bird strike after take off. It even said in their post flight report. I didnt know you could have
bird strikes? Is this like, just an FSX thing? Or is it for all, because I run FS2004, and I have never had any "freak" accedents. Is the only
thing that can happen to your aircraft in 04 pilot caused? Anyway, I would love to see bird strikes in FS2004 if their arent!

Thanks!

Re: Bird Strikes?! - timtomairways - 02-02-2010

i think they are in FS9

Re: Bird Strikes?! - Valoran - 02-02-2010

Yup, they're in 09. My very first FSP flight, eons ago, resulted in a wrecked Mooney because of a bird strike on take-off. If that didn't fuel the
addiction more than anything else... Had another on world tour 3 in a Saab 340 out of Innsbruck. Got her turned around in a cirque way
above the airport and landed opposite direction on the same runway. RC4 helped clear the way on that one.

I have used RC on all flights. It really doesn't take long at all to get use to it's features. Of course when you get the program and need
some helpful tips, those of us who have RC will be happy to guide you along Smile

Re: Bird Strikes?! - Valoran - 04-02-2010

The only issue is that it has NO support for VFR flying. It's an IFR only ATC system. But it does that extremely well.

Re: Bird Strikes?! - JetlinerX - 05-02-2010

So how many people out of the ones whom have it would recomend it?

Re: Bird Strikes?! - Joeflyer - 05-02-2010

Count me in...

Re: Bird Strikes?! - timtomairways - 05-02-2010

i wdo recomeend Radar contact

however i think the new vertion is set to come out some time this year, id waite to get it if i where you.

to be honist thoue i dont use RC as much as i use to

it says it has support for STARs, but it has never told me to cross a waypoint at a given altitude. in stead it always descends you to be at
11000 or 12000 when your 40 miles out, yea it allows good sequencing. but whats the point of programeing my FMC if i have to descend
40miles from my planned T/D.
thas my biggest complaint, i have a few more but they are not big.

certinaly even that is not enough to discorage me from getting it. but now i only use it if my arrival airport dose not have a STAR in the
flight plan.

if you deside to get the current vertion id advise getting the meatwater voice pack V2, it makes it sound a whole lot better

Wouldn't you know, I never had a bird strike and I do have failures turned on. But as soon as I read this thread, I had two... in one day. I
guess fate is making up for lost time.
