Ultra long range flight - Ayle - 15-08-2009 Hi, I'm currently attempting a flight from KSFO to FAJS on FS9. That would be about 9000nm and I'm doing that with a 773ER. At this point of the flight it seems like I tried to bite more than I could chew. The inflight report puts my flight endurance at 10hrs with the gps reporting 15hrs to destination. Can I divert to Lagos or Dakar to refuel without having my flight canceled and receiving penalties since I set the destination to Johannesburg(FAJS)? Re: Ultra long range flight - iflyfsx - 15-08-2009 I don't think so. You'll be penalized for not landing at the scheduled airport. At what speed/altitude are you flying? Re: Ultra long range flight - Ayle - 15-08-2009 FL430 at M0.84, I tried FL410 but my fuel flow with autothrottle is exactly the same at that altitude when flying at M0.82 and I'm going slower too... Re: Ultra long range flight - AnsettAddict123 - 15-08-2009 are you using true or indicated airspeed though? at fl410 your indicated airspeed it 280 knots (or thereabouts) when in reality its much fater as your cruising in the thinner and colder air (about 510 knots) so youre not going slower mate ![]() Re: Ultra long range flight - relichd - 15-08-2009 According to detailed B777-300ER documentation found on boeing.com (http://www.boeing.com/commercial/airports/acaps/777rsec3.pdf) for FL430 and speed at 0.84Mach the max range is only slightly above 8000 nm not 9000. You would need to fly FL410 to get as far as around 8500nm but there is no way to get as far as 9000nm. All with 0/0 winds during a standard day (as they call it). Happy flying! David Post Edited ( 08-15-09 14:41 ) Re: Ultra long range flight - Ayle - 15-08-2009 FS crashed... I'll try again. I recently acquired a A346 for $50,000,000 though it needs repairs, will that do the trick? Re: Ultra long range flight - relichd - 15-08-2009 One friendly advice, Ayle - use Google, website of aircraft manufacturer or user manual delivered with your add-on... I'm sure you'll find out whether or not A346 will 'do the trick'. Sorry if I'm rude but I feel people could do more before they ask questions... Good night ![]() David. It takes us back to the basics - know your aircraft, know its limitations so you avoid any problems and penalties ![]() David. Re: Ultra long range flight - gbapache - 16-08-2009 you can stop and get gas. Remember a couple of things 1)you can not try to reach the final destination "on time" because once the parking brake is set to get said gas FSP thinks your are done. 2)DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR while refueling. Many of my elders will advise you to plan properly ahead, live within the perameters of your helicoptor ![]() Re: Ultra long range flight - Ayle - 17-08-2009 I decided to make a stop in Nigeria. But another flight went to hell today. Are there any tools to prevent the wind speed from jumping around so much? The plane disintegrated in flight because one minute I'm cruising peacefully at 240knts and then the speed jumps to 290kntsand while the autothrottle tries to slow me down the airspeed sharply drops to 170knts... After a while of those speed changing cycle the plane just gets overstressed.... Any way to fix that? I know I could use a weather preset but where is the fun in that if you can't use real world weather? Re: Ultra long range flight - gbapache - 17-08-2009 Active sky is a payware but it is well worth the 20 something dollars it cost. Re: Ultra long range flight - Ayle - 17-08-2009 Thanks. |
