My first career with FSPX - trigger_fsx - 22-06-2009

Hi everyone,

I am new here and just want to tell about my experience with FSPX after using it for the first time:

So i created a career with pliot ranks, economic mode, instant record and $500 000 start out cash.

Bought a cessna 172 and maule and did flights from tncm and the surrounding area.

Everything seemed to go well and i experienced no failures (set at 5%), i started to think that failures do not work on my pc.

So, I worked hard to get promoted to C3, had 28 actual hours to my name.

I got enough money to buy the Bravo and did flights of greater distance.

So now I was aiming to get enough money to buy the baron 58. I took off from tdcf and was heading back to tncm. I was taking off and was at about 250
feet when suddenly I experienced an engine flame out due to a bird strike! this happened very quickly very close to the ground and before i could
really react the plane crashed into some trees.

So there I was, plane destroyed and pilot with 28hrs flight time dead....... this was really bad and exciting at the same time.

I have now created a new company with $1000000 and bought 4 maule's.

Hope i can handle the next failure thrown at me!

Cheers and thanks for a great add-on.

Jacques

PS: what default single prop (FSX) is the best to start out with?

The Maule Orion can carry more passengers and cargo than the Cessna 172. You do have to fix the weight in the cfg, though.

Mooney is even better.

Yes, what I actually did with my new career was to buy 2 mooney's, 2 piper cubs, 1 maule.
Did a one hour flight (170nm) yesterday with the mooney and made $54000.

One question:

When experiencing a bird strike on take-off 200ft from ground and no runway left and a fully loaded plane, what action should be taken? I practised
this last night but I cannot turn the plane around to land before hitting the ground. I try to maintain glide speed but plane drops quickly.

Thanks

The only thing you can do, with a single engined aircraft, is try and maintain speed a little above Vst (Stall-speed) and gain some altitude
as well as find a spot to ditch it. It will NOT be able to sustain flight very long as the engine will overheat rapidly.
Guess why most pilots are using MEPs as soon as they can Wink

EFATO (Engine Failure After Take-Off) Drills.

For a single engine aircraft:
1) If an engine fails below 200' and there's enough tarmac left, land on the tarmac
2) If an engine fails below 200' and there is not enough tarmac left, turn the aircraft slightly to land on the grass either side of the strip
3) If an engine fails between 200' and 500' try and turn back to the airport and backtrack the runway.
4) If an engine fails above 500' peform a normal traffic pattern, if able; if not, backtrack the runway.

Those (above) are what the RAF taught me back when I was doing single engined stuff with them; hopefully they'll be of use to you Smile

Thanks for the tips, they will definitely be of use. Haven't had a failure on take-off again so far, but i am ready should this occur.

Thanks
