Hungry pax - coinneach - 13-11-2008

Which is better overall: waiting for pax to complain about being hungry before serving (thus causing a slight hit on the opinion score but causing
less food wastage), or anticipating their needs and serving before they complain?

I don't charge for food and drinks, and I have my service quality set to 100%. I manually manage the belts and service.

Your best bet is to prioritize.

1. Decide service intervals based on your flight length, taking into account your last service being able to be completed before decent.
2. Don't let your Pax get too hungry Smile

I usually keep an eye on the inflight report, when it says they will be hungry within an hour, I will start serving. Also keep in mind that at night
they don't get hungry that fast. (And leaving right after dinner time or lunch is also a good idea on long haul flightsSmile )

Ha. One of my regular flights is SFO-PHX, 2 hours block time. I normally provide drinks and sandwiches during cruise climb, but once I decided to skip
the food. We departed at 1300 PST/2100 GMT, so I figured they'd eaten before the flight and didn't check the report. Turns out they hadn't eaten and
didn't start complaining until we were 30 minutes out and just starting initial descent. Too late to start serving, and just to make things worse, I
had to go around when some AI idiot took his time departing my runway.

Yeah. That was an awesome flight. Applause
