Flight from PAPG to TFG0 - TristenEugene - 03-11-2008

Woof! Took off from PAPG in the ski eqp't DHC-2 with 3 pax. Followed the 015 from LVD, had to fly at 9500' for MRA (Min reception alt). Started
recieving the TFG NDB at 12 miles out. tracked in and spotted the camp. A 1800' rwy on a high saddle. 2 windsocks sticking straight out perpendick,
naturally, to the rwy. sloping terrain on either end of the rwy. I circled twice for a look and tried the approach. Ran out of rudder and was stuck
crabbing in, didn't make it! , go'round, bounced off the sloping terrain on the dpt end. Though we were gonners. Came back around to the other end
rwy 22 for a try. I was so worked up I was not keeping an eye on the power and pranged it in at over 700 fpm rod!! Someone in the back yelled, the
copilot said something about crashing, hard landing or something (I never heard this before in FSp) On landing roll, I went over the end of the rwy
and was heading downhill off the other side!!! I kicked the rudder and ended up in a 180 going backwards. I powered up and was able to stop. CRAP!!
I taxied to the camp base and just sat there for a moment. Shut down, let everyone out. the tailwheel was GONE!!! ripped it right off!
We'll be stay'n here for the night anyway.
Tomorrow we'll map out a NDB appr with a DP.
