Realistic Flights? - civileng68 - 09-07-2005 Ok, first please note that I don't really know how to word this, so I'll do my best. Is there a way when you run an airline to establish exactly where you fly, or when you fly is there something that tells you where you SHOULD fly? Or is it just choose wherever you want all of the time? Also, last night I used my new Cessna and while 2 people were waiting to fly with me, they never got in the plane when I opened the door? Do I have to taxi somewhere to pick them up? Is there something to tell us how long a flight will take so I can input relatively correct arrival times? Re: Realistic Flights? - briansommers - 09-07-2005 about the passengers not boarding your cessna, - MAKE SURE YOU DRAG THE SLIDER (top right of screen) to load passengers, this was my mistake as well. you could go here to help with realistic flights, http://www.flightlookup.com/home.html you can use that for helping you what airplane to use and flight times as well Re: Realistic Flights? - civileng68 - 09-07-2005 What about flight schedule? Is there something that tells me where I need to fly next, you know, like a real airline? Or do I just select where I want to fly each time? Re: Realistic Flights? - Pierino - 09-07-2005 cool link, thanks Brian! @civileng68 1. Yes, you fly to the direction you choose (depends also on the chosen scenario) 2. Passengers not boarding? Make sure you drag these sliders. My passengers do board the plane (well, at least up to 50% of the capacity of my plane, my high ticket price seems to scare them away, but I can't change since my company is called "Snobair"). I was a bit lost at first, too. Well, I didn't know how long it takes to get from A to B and had absolutely no idea, how much fuel is needed. But then I remembered that I had bought Airliner Pilot. An addon which I did'nt like that much because I thought it was kind of boring and completely missing any flair. But the combination of of these two addons is just grea!. AirlinerPilot tells you what flight to do, what plane to use, what route to take and the exact amount of fuel needed. And themother of all FS addons, FS Passengers, simply does all the rest. I always knew, that this was going to be a great addon, since I first heard of it. But the final version is far above all my expectations, Dan has done a perfect job on this!!! Cheers! Pierino up up and awayyyyyyyyyy! Re: Realistic Flights? - pagir - 09-07-2005 To know how long the flight will be, use the "flight planner" in the first FS2004 menu. Then set your departure airport and the destination airport. Press the "Find" button to... find your route. At the right button of the screen you'll find a "nav"-something button. Press it. There you'll find how long will be your flight. Add about 15 to 30 minutes, it will tell you how long should be your flight... ...that's it. For knowing the destination: don't forget YOU manage the company AND your pilot. It's up to you to decide where your planes will go, like in real! Pagir Re: Realistic Flights? - Pierino - 09-07-2005 and it even indicates the calculated fuel! thanks pagir!!! stupid me!!!! ![]() Re: Realistic Flights? - Gibbmusic - 09-07-2005 Also if you are interested in flying real world routes and times, click on the link next to my signature banner. Join up with VirtualPilots.org, it is very similar to a VA but uses real world flights and timetables. Once you join you just figure out where you want to fly. You can put in the departure airport and arrival airport, and it will tell you who flies there and what times. Of course there are other sites that will do this, but this one is similar to a VA in that once you fly the route, you do a PIREP and get credit for the flight time. You can go to the site and read all about it before joining. Have fun, Gibbmusic Re: Realistic Flights? - SWAFO - 10-07-2005 You could always go to real world airline websites, and look up their routes. For my airline a link is: http://southwest.com/cgi-bin/requestSchedule Try flying a few of those routes. It will also give you arrival and departure times so that you can figure out the enroute time. Re: Realistic Flights? - Big Vern - 10-07-2005 Ultimate Traffic from Just Flight also includes departure boards for most civil airports and airlines around the world, which will give you aircraft type, flight numbers and block times. Re: Realistic Flights? - SWAFO - 10-07-2005 Ultimate Traffic is a great program... consider looking at it. In my opinion it makes flights much more realistic/enjoyable. More life-like traffic. Pierino, that sounds pretty cool. So the airliner pilot tells you where to fly etc etc?? does it use the same company details or have you got to have two companies, one in FSP and one in AP? Re: Realistic Flights? - briansommers - 11-07-2005 well im really glad to hear how it blends in with airline pilot, because i was thinking of getting that myself as well, i think the two of them together would work well and be tons of fun |
