Cargo Calculator - gazpode_l - 04-10-2007

What do other people use to calculate how much cargo to carry?

This is what I do at present:

1 FSP will say I have EG 65 pax waiting at the gate
2 I drag the sliders to assign those pax to my aircraft
3 I do the same fo the fuel, loading exactly how much I need, or lately up to 95% of total aircraft takeoff weight or 100% fuel
4 I then work out on a calculator (number of passengers X avg check in luggage of 20kg)
5 I then load half of the total calculated weight of the luggage into each of the two holds

Anybody like to comment?

Re: Cargo Calculator - Launchbury - 04-10-2007

I load all the pax, load the fuel based on how many hours of burn, +45 minutes FAR minimum, +30 minutes contingency fuel, +30
minutes alternate (if needed), then I load up however much cargo I feel like. Keep in mind that airplanes carry more than just pax
luggage - a lot of airlines have mail contracts where they fly airmail, some airlines carry FedEx or UPS packages that missed their own
flights, and misc. cargo. If you're only taking enough cargo to satisfy the requirements of your pax then you're short-changing yourself.
