winds with correct runways - Puluke - 01-06-2007

I need to know how to correct for winds and using the right runway, either crossrunway or straight down the line. I was set to fly kiad to egll
with winds out of 170 at 7 and atis was calling for runway 01 instead of runway 19. How do I corrct this problem

Errr i don't quite get the fist bit but you need to use your rudders when taxing/ going down the runwyay for cross winds, in real life ATC will
send you tothe runway so your flying into wind, better lift.

If you were doing an IFR flight you can't change the runway but if you were doing VFR flight you can change the departure runway by
clicking "Dept North, Dept North West" etc etc and ATC should tell you gto go to the correct runway.

Hi Puluke,

If I am correct, FS does not take into account winds for guiding you to the correct rwy.

What I was trying to say is How do I correct programmably so I am not taking off with a tail wind. If atis directs me to use runway 01 then
the winds should becoming nose on, not from the tail as was the case with me: 170 at 07

Well as far as I've experienced, ATC does direct you correctly. Are you sure the winds were wrong? Unless you have a wind gauge that gives you
up-to-minute wind speed and direction, you can't be sure. There is a gauge you can install on the panel which does that. The times I've used it, ATC has been shown to be almost always correct. You could test the ATC by manually setting the wind and seeing what runways it assigns.

I always thought planes took off into the wind, better lift.

You're not correct.. for the most part, FS will direct you to the proper runway. Sometimes, though, the winds may have switched suddenly, or if you
switched the weather once the game starts then they won't switch the active runway for you... to correct this and fly into a headwind, just simply
disregard ATC's instructions and fly out of the runway you want; that's the only way to "fix" it.
