RCv4 Whacky Controllers - Joeflyer - 20-07-2006 Since my SIDS/STARS and scenery databases are up to date, I was quite miffed at the RC controller who instructed me to maintain 8,000 feet until established on the LOC for RWY15 at SPIM(Peru). I should have been at a maximum of 2,000 feet by that point! Of course I should have just ignored the cuss and descended when I knew I should have done so. At any rate, I got established on the LOC and way too high, so I declared a missed approach. What a mistake. I got vectored almost 40 nm before getting vectored again to the IAF. Then the whacky controller gave me the same instruction...maintain 8,000 until established. This time I said, "screw you!" and descended to the approach altitude. I didn't let my LD767 fly all of that way to just keep doing missed approaches ![]() at least I got the PAXs to their destination, and I provided the RC controller with the one-finger salute ![]() Re: RCv4 Whacky Controllers - xhado13 - 20-07-2006 "This time I said, "screw you!" ![]() Re: RCv4 Whacky Controllers - jboweruk - 21-07-2006 Why didn't you request a visual approach the second time around. Then you wouldn't have got stung for the altitude bust...... Plus you can still use ILS to hook up, or you could've requested full IAP approach, again they would have left you alone after that.
