Voice Buddy Anyone? - Joeflyer - 31-05-2006 I don't know about the rest of you, but several days ago I purchased Voice Buddy and am enjoying the heck out of it. Since I mostly fly the Captain Sim B727, I have my hands full during the takeoffs and landings of this particular airplane. Voice Buddy has taken ALOT of the workload away just by being able to make voice commands...retract flaps, gear up, trim up, autopilot master switch on, etc. It is definitely working as advertised. I could go through the hundreds of commands Voice Buddy will perform, but I will spare all of you the details. I am interested in knowing how many of you hard core simmers have VB and if you are getting as much enjoyment out of the product as I am. For anyone thinking about buying VB 3.0, VB suggests that anyone who buys the product also purchase the AudioFX headset with it. Purchase it if you don't have a decent headset, but if you already have a good headset, don't even think about buying it. I have a Logitech headset and it works great with VB. One other thing...the set up is quite easy...as advertised. However, be prepared to sit at the computer for an hour or so going through the tutorial and voice recognition exercises. Of course this is optional, but if you want to make sure your commands aren't being misinterpreted by VB, I would highly recommend you go through the exercises. The more you do of them, the more accurate the system will be. Disclaimer: This is not an advertisement....I just like the freak'n product! ![]() ![]() Re: Voice Buddy Anyone? - fruitfly - 31-05-2006 I like using voice controls, too. Only I use "Speechbuddy2" and for two reasons: 1. It's free 2. Unlike any other voice control program, one can tune radio frequencies with it, and as I guess you'll agree, that's something we do most often (Much more often than raising gear or lowering flaps and such.). Very useful in VC, especially since we all have Active Camera and VC swings left-right while you're trying to press these little buttons http://www.x-plane.info/billy/speechbuddy.html The engine behind all such programs -payware or freeware- is the same: SAPI5, so unlike one can find in the ads, there is no difference in "how good they hear you" P.S. The oly drawback I can think of is it requires a registered FSUIPC. Post Edited ( 05-31-06 23:53 ) Re: Voice Buddy Anyone? - Joeflyer - 01-06-2006 I suppose it's all in the matter of preference, correct? Since VB is the first speech control system I have used, I can't complain at all about it. Sure, I paid for it, but I paid for FSUIPC as well...a couple of months ago. I hardly know the difference in SAPI5 or SDK, so you have me on that one ![]() |
