Avoiding CTD with saving? - ibanez074 - 19-12-2019

Hi
Just purchased FsP and also having the crash issues prople are experiencing, randomly. So one way round it or so i thought was to regularly save my flight and then go back to most recent save after each crash. But i notice when i reload a save in FSX it does not in fact incorporate FsP into the flight ie when landed there are no passengers onboard.
Is there a way of saving my FsP flight so as to not loose the FsP progress when o reload?

Many thanks!

If you are experiencing random crashes, it is typically because of something in your system or other software that is triggering the random crashes. Perhaps you can provide your system specs and provide the contents of the install log and log.tx files that are located in the main FsP folder (which is located in the Documents directory). Maybe those 2 files will point to something that isn't correct in the installation.

You cannot save a FsP flight and go back to it at a later time. Dan wanted to incorporate as much realism as possible when he developed the program, so it's not realistic to save a flight. It can't be done in real life Smile

Let's try to see why you are getting random crashes and focus on this. I'll try to help as much as possible. In the meantime, if you have further questions about the program, the forums have a wealth of information and the documentation that comes with the FsP software is very helpful as well. Don't forget to visit the FAQ section!

It does seem more often than not the crash happens when im opening an option from the toolbar or i try using a different view, but the error blames FsP

Although using Event viewer i've just read some of the event data errors:

RE: Avoiding CTD with saving? - Joeflyer - 19-12-2019

Nothing in the files you posted says it's a FsP problem. Other question: Do you have AI traffic addon per chance? When you are accessing a menu or changing views and getting crashes, I can guarantee it's not FsP causing the crash. But, it could be a particular software addon that helps to trigger the crash while using FsP. Another thing to consider...high sim settings, not having the sim resolution the same as your monitor resolution, graphics drivers, etc, can contribute to this sort of crash.

Let me get back to the addon traffic if you have it. Disable traffic and do a test flight with a default aircraft. It's the first thing that comes to my mind based on the acontain.dll message in your last post. Test and report back. Sometimes this is like trying to find the needle in a haystack.

RE: Avoiding CTD with saving? - ibanez074 - 19-12-2019

Thanks so much for the advice.
At first it was the crash on startup saying 3rd party FSpassengers dll thingy, about 10 times (have only posted 1 of those error reports). Then read about the regedit fix so after deleting the entry it still had the same error message and the key re appeared. Since i last deleted the entry it hasn't appeared and neither has the crash on startup. The original crashes on FSX start up were definitely referencing FsP, i read on a forum to run as Admin and this along with the regedit fix has hopefully solved the issue!
However, this was all happening whilst i was getting the random mid flight crashes so i assumed FsP was the issue there too.
Now i know about reading Event error reports i done some digging and some of the errors were related to OneDrive. I have uninstalled OneDrive and so far so good.
I'm not running any addons other than Rex 4 with soft cloud and an Aztec which came with the Steam bundle. All worked fine until FsP was installed but maybe it was a coincidence?
Thanks again!

RE: Avoiding CTD with saving? - Joeflyer - 20-12-2019

The last FsP installer is suppose to correct the registry issue. I suppose sometimes that gets whacky during the installation. I don't know if you ever shut down services and programs that aren't necessary to run in the background while you are simming, but Alacrity pc is a great tool to use to stop/restart certain services and programs (.exe's).

Anyway, I assume things are running ok now?

RE: Avoiding CTD with saving? - ibanez074 - 20-12-2019

So far yes things are ok done a couple of 1 hrs flights  last night without issue.

I'll try that bit of software thanks. I used to use something similar years ago called Startup or Startup Guard.
