Compatible with the new FSX beta? IMPORTANT FOR ALL - byemoonmen - 17-11-2019

Anyone knows if it is compatible with the new FSX beta?

It seems that the Steam Beta release is just a few bug fixed release, so I guess FsPassengerX should work fine, however there's the option to get back to the previous FSX as explained here https://steamcommunity.com/games/fsxsteamedition/announcements/detail/2549529393507642734

Indeed, you roll the dice when a newer version of -SE is rolled out (beta or full)...especially with FsP in its current form. I can attempt to let Dan know that -SE has a beta out but I doubt he will respond any time soon.

Decided to test myself and it doesn't work, it gives back the "unable to recognise FSX version" error when you boot it up.

I hope Dan is doing better, I remember he was having some health issues.

Thanks for the update. I would caution anyone wanting to test FsP with the -SE beta at this point. It would behoove everyone to read this thread first.
Even when beta goes to full version, it is highly unlikely FsP will work with it. Dan would have to update FsP every time -SE and P3D updated.
Considering Dan hasn't responded to any of my emails in months, I have my doubts he will jump to updating FsP any time soon. I hate to say it, but at this point in time, my faith in anything happening to FsP is shaky at best.

So as of today 3-31-20 there will not be a fsx passengers working with the new beta..... I ask because it would be really nice to have the working real world weather with fsx passengers. I dont know why M$hit couldnt just integrate the new beta feature into the current build.

RE: Compatible with the new FSX beta? IMPORTANT FOR ALL - f3rr0 - 01-04-2020

Well, M$hit, as you call it, doesn't have nothing anymore to do with FSX-SE. It's developed and released by Steam. Right now, while the whole world is under attack by COVID-19, I don't really think that the FSPassengers update is Dan's priority.
However, to fly in real weather simulation on FSX-SE, you could give a try to FSXWX. I use it in my FSX-SE (not beta) and it works very well. Take a look at it here http://www.plane-pics.de/fsxwx/home.htm

FSX isn't developed and released by Steam, Steam is just the store where it's sold at. It's developed by Microsoft and published by Xbox Game Studios, you can check that sort of info on the store page.

Microsoft is the very first developer. Since 2016 it's released and manteined by Dovetail Games, a Steam Developer. It was a long story, however FSX was re-released on 2016 by Dovetail Games on Steam as FSX-SE, under license agreement by Microsoft, but Microsoft have nothing to do with it right now anymore. In fact last year the weather engine went down due to Microsoft discontinuing support on FSX and that's why Steam released a beta version with a new weather engine and other stuffs developed by Dovetail Games.

Dovetail was pushed out of the picture when the new beta released, they were basically just custodians. Now it's back under Microsoft's umbrella. You can check that on the actual steam page as I've mentioned, now Microsoft is the developer listed instead of Dovetail. Steam doesn't have anything to do with FSX-SE, though, Steam is just a storefront (with a ton of good features for us consumers), developers are the ones responsible for pushing updates.
