Diet-Airlines? - Enzo - 10-03-2006 A flight that made me smile ![]() Started my flight preparations in a 747-400 from EDDF to WSSS, a long 12 hour flight. Preflight checks finished, outside check done (though it was snowing heavily in Frankfurt), all set with ATC and flightplan cleared to Singapore. This time I wanted the crew to serve without my advice (the purser should be able to manage that by himself), so set the option to AUTO. Completed boarding, welcomed passenger with a little music, pushed back, taxied to the RW, a clean takeoff into the night sky, climbed to FL390 and passed the cockpit to the senior first officer, since I was going to have a rest. Early morning after a good breakfast came up to the flight deck, checked the situation, everything fine, about another 3 hours to go to Changi. Passengers satisfied ETA still in a very good range to get the bonus points... ![]() Started my descent to Singapore (wondered that no more meals or snaks were served before, but anyhow its the purser business...) had some turbulences on the approach but made a nice landing, taxied to the gate, shut off the engines after nearly 12h of flight and disembarked the PAX. Now I was curious about the flight report! The crew served 1 hot meal and 1 drink! WHOW! Hey, that was just after I took off in Frankfurt! So passengers did not have anything to eat or drink for about 10 hours and even no movie, but they were still 100% satisfied! My Purser is a genious how he managed to do such an economic flight (since I do not charge for snaks, food, or drinks in any class). I might change my airline name to Diet-Airlines with an increase of the ticket price since its a very healthy flight and since there was even no movie people read books instead! ![]() Re: Diet-Airlines? - Fede - 10-03-2006 The pax didn`t complain because they were all DEAD when you land... ![]() Re: Diet-Airlines? - calumd - 11-03-2006 lol! Re: Diet-Airlines? - trekster - 12-03-2006 I had a very annoying problem on one of my long flights. Other than no movie being played, the pax got VERY hungry, and for a hour, i had to watch them get drunk with the crew twice serving drinks, not food, even though hostess advice was to serve food not drink WHAT WAS GOING ON |
