Hard Landings - Nathan-Smith - 26-02-2006 Hi Guys Does anybody know how to land as gentle as possible in a 767-300ER AND without obliterating the Nose Gear. Because I'm having trouble Tips would be nice, See Pic for the Proof of a 767-300ER Drill Re: Hard Landings - DBE - 26-02-2006 1st of all: are you landing manually or using autoland? And BTW, http://www.corporate.aiairways.com produces a 404! ![]() Post Edited ( 02-26-06 00:59 ) Re: Hard Landings - Galih Prasetya - 26-02-2006 I don't know which 767 model you are using, but in my case GPWS really helps a lot. Just follow the glideslope at Vref+5, reduce the power at 50 feet, and finally flare and gently pull the yoke at 10 feet. A nice landing (or even a 'kiss') would be easy ![]() Re: Hard Landings - ivo - 26-02-2006 Yes, a flare is the secret. For a manaul landing, keep Vref +5 and when you get to about 100 feet above the ground, slowly reduce power to idle. At 50 feet, smoothly pull back on the joystick to flare, and you should have a perfect landing. Re: Hard Landings - Galih Prasetya - 26-02-2006 flare at 50 feet? aren't that a bit too high for flaring? ![]() Re: Hard Landings - ivo - 26-02-2006 Not if you do it smoothly. I'm talking about slowly raising the nose, not rapidly pulling the joystick at 50 feet. Re: Hard Landings - Nathan-Smith - 26-02-2006 Manual, until i get familiar with ILS, Idfg 767 and is really triky, btw corporate.aiairways. is offline atm Re: Hard Landings - FsP Dennis - 26-02-2006 Use autoland it makes the most smooth landing ![]() to ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Hard Landings - slippalong - 26-02-2006 Hi all. I know the problem you are having coz I;ve been having the same problem ever since I downloaded FS Pax in the new year.Very frustrating when you fly a 3 hour flight perfect and louse it up when your wheels touchdown on the runway, but practice makes perfect and I can just touch down under 500ft/mn which means I get told of by the co pilot but don't lose points.Re this autoland,I have heard of it but are there any easy to install addons for fs planes. PS Hated FS Pax when I first tried it coz I was a bighead and thought I could fly.but it soon bought me down a peg or two.Won't fly without it now. Re: Hard Landings - RonMac - 26-02-2006 Anything less than a 'Kiss' is failure! Yeah, he tells himself ..just that I am a hard kisser!! Transition from A/P to manual is tricky, I change at around 1000ft, let aircraft continue on its glideslope, and flare my 737-800 as above post suggest, at around 50ft.. Check NULL ZONE on joystick, this can need adjusted so that as a/p cpmes off, you can correct for landing without over doing stick adjustments. Remember to switch off SPD setting, so that manual throttle does come down. Re: Hard Landings - flyingA340 - 26-02-2006 I prefer using the trim rather than the stick itself; this keeps you from making too unsensitive inputs. Another good way which needs alot of practice is to use the throttle (i.e. speed) to adjust the pitch and the trim to control the speed. Phil Re: Hard Landings - BenzHangar - 27-02-2006 Check your flap settings. Re: Hard Landings - WBHoenig - 27-02-2006 FsPilot is freeware on avsim (never tried it before, so don't know the actual quality of it) that adds in a seperate autopilot on a seperate window that includes autoland. It is supposed to do excellent landings on everything from the C172 to the A380. Re: Hard Landings - ivo - 27-02-2006 If you practice, you won't need autoland ![]() Re: Hard Landings - darnoc - 27-02-2006 747/400 I seem to have a problem with my joystick, how do you or should you adjust the the joystick. When I pull my yoke the nose seems to bounce up to high , even if i try the slightest move.... ![]() |
