I’m making the decision on which C10 - Lylyhannah - 18-01-2019

Hey guys/girls/people that don’t know their own gender Smile

I’m making the decision on which C10 aircraft to purchase and I’m wondering if i go long haul or medium haul: so my question is simply
how is the insurance rate calculated? is it a certain percentage of the flight profit/ related to distance flown etc? the reason i ask is
because ive heard many people talking about how long haul doesn’t make any real money after expenses (and seeing as how my
largest expense, yes that’s right LARGEST, is insurance i was wondering how its calculatedSmile

any feedback on these aircraft types and their suitability for use in fspax is appreciatedSmile
* SMS/Overland 777-200LR
*default 747-400 (fsx)
*777-300 (SMS/Overland)

Thanks for the anticipated help

Hello Lylyhannah,

A quick search of "How insurance is calculated" resulted in this thread:

One thing to not when making repairs on your aircraft: If you pay with insurance, the rate is going increase afterwards so it's best to have enough cash on hand to repair your aircraft after every flight. You likely know this already.

I don't have the SMS/Overland 777, only the PMDG one. I use the PMDG 747 as well. Speaking from my own experience, I typically use cargo versions on very long flights that are over 2,000 nm to capture higher income. Pax versions will not capture as much income on those long haul flights due to the law of diminishing returns. In your case, you may have good luck with the SMS 777 as opposed to the default 747...flight dynamics and overall behavior of the aircraft likely outshines the default 747 by a wide margin.

Happy flying!
