Unlimited kneeboards - Concorde147 - 12-08-2018

One of the best features I discovered yesterday is the kneeboard and how I can write on it and import text in to the .txt files. This is exactly what I was looking for because I have bits of paper all over the place. I tried increasing the number of kneeboards by adding additional kneeboard.txt files in to the same folder but they don't appear so I was wondering is there another config file I could edit to make it recognise the extra kneeboard files I add? I added kneeboard5.txt and kneeboard6.txt.

Dan likely limited this but I cannot tell you if there is any way to increase that number. Perhaps Dan could advise. Also, I am not certain if the documentation that comes with the software may explain this part. You can take a look.

Hi Joeflyer, thanks for your reply and I decided not to check any further as four kneeboards is more than enough. I had grand ideas of adding every route as a seperate kneeboard page and realised that would make it very cluttered and probably not be good performance wise on my PC.

I've noticed the control assignments section of the built in kneeboard in FS9 is the file FS9\aircraft\kneeboard.html and I know a bit of HTML so have been using that to create my own custom kneeboard page. I've added javascript such as weight/speed/distance converters, a scientific calculator and images of checklists I've created in MSPaint so I can use more than just plain text. It's very handy to use in flight.

I didn't want to make another thread since you know more about the kneeboards I'll ask away here, so my question is if you can use the kneeboards without having to stop the game, thanks.

Hi SilverGoose, if you go to FSPassengers Options > Keyboard settings you can assign a key to toggle the kneeboard on. It doesn't toggle it off though and you need to use the mouse to do that but this method means you can open/close it without having to hit the ALT key. You can also assign a key to the FS9 kneeboard or add the kneeboard icon to your panel so you can also open that without pausing the flight.
