FSX Crashes to Desktop - Unturned_Fighter - 20-02-2018

dll.xml deletion only solves it for less than a day. I falsely determined that I fixed it because I got three ntdll.dll crashes, but earlier today I got an actual fspassengers crash after a short hop from S88 to 27W.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X has stopped working

Options are: Debug and OK. The Just-In-Time Debugger is apparently trying to search for something that doesn't exist. OK just results in it waiting a few seconds and crashing to desktop.

RE: FSX Crashes to Desktop - Joeflyer - 20-02-2018

Exception code: 0xc0000005= access violation error. This raised the red flag for me. There may be more happening with your system than just FsP helping to trigger this error:

Error code 0xc0000005 is one of Windows very broad errors. This is because it can be caused by different factors related to an installed program, installed hardware or both. The following are just a few of the many possible causes:

An installed program such as the antivirus program that prevents the smooth start of a program.• Either corrupt or missing hardware drivers.
Incorrect system hardware configuration.
Either low memory or damaged RAM
Virus/Malware infection.
An old program.
Corrupt or damaged system registry files.
Data execution security feature (DEP).

RE: FSX Crashes to Desktop - Unturned_Fighter - 20-02-2018

I'm pretty sure it's not any hardware drivers - they are all up to date.
I'm also pretty sure it's not any of the others, because it worked just fine before. I reinstalled FSX:SE on Friday (Pacific Standard Time, US), then reinstalled FSPassengers and within 5 to 50 minutes it starts crashing. Dll.xml deletion worked fine for less than a day, at which point I falsely assumed it was fixed (which it wasn't).

I would only be confident it would be the issues you listed out if Windows 10 f***ed something up about FSX:SE and FSPassengers when I wasn't looking. It worked fine before which is really weird. If you need any more info, feel free to ask (if I didn't post anything more by then).

RE: FSX Crashes to Desktop - Unturned_Fighter - 20-02-2018

I'm also going to add - it's not only an FSPassengers crash. When I seem to have "fixed" FSPassengers, FSX:SE itself crashes due to an ntdll.dll error which is just as frustrating. It generally takes just as long for it to crash compared to FSPassengers itself. So I do agree that it is indeed more than FSPassengers, however I'm not sure whether there is more than FSPassengers.dll_unloaded and ntdll.dll

RE: FSX Crashes to Desktop - Joeflyer - 21-02-2018

Looking at the above FsP install log and log.txt didn't reveal anything that would cause FsP issues or your FSX-SE issues. ntdll.dll errors are typically graphics related. Hence, we are now talking about an additional problem. First the access violation and now the ntdll issue.
I don't know how many addons you have installed in -SE or how aggressive you adjusted the sliders in game. A combination of things may be triggering these errors. Perhaps have you tried system restore to a point before all of the crashes began? If not, maybe that could help.
One thing is for certain...the process of elimination can be tedious when multiple issues start creeping up. Ive been there, done that.
If things get too tedious, generally a fresh installation of your OS is the best bet. Start all over again. I've had to do that, too. Fortunately it's been over 4 years though. Reminds me...time for a new rig! LOL

RE: FSX Crashes to Desktop - Unturned_Fighter - 21-02-2018

I will try a complete refresh tonight. Thank you for your input. I'll see if htat helps, if it doesn't then I'd be at a loss.

RE: FSX Crashes to Desktop - Joeflyer - 21-02-2018

I would be at a loss as well if a fresh OS installation doesn't cure the ills. You could look around to see if there is a OS optimization guide for -SE as well. That could help in keeping gremlins from interfering.

RE: FSX Crashes to Desktop - Unturned_Fighter - 21-02-2018

I've let my computer do a factory reset over night and let it install windows and do a couple updates this morning. After waiting for FSX to install and installing FSPassengers, I fired up the game to do a troubleshooting flight that's about 40 minutes - from Seattle to Snohomish if you're curious - and it seems to have worked. Just shut the plane down as I'm typing this, and I'm impressed that it worked. I also had GSX installed the entire flight and it worked flawlessly!

RE: FSX Crashes to Desktop - Joeflyer - 21-02-2018

That's promising indeed. BUT, only install ONE addon at a time and test for a while just to make sure there aren't any problems. I wouldn't go through the process of installing all addons and then think everything is going to be fine.
