Can you paint your aircraft how you want and put the name of the airline on it?

Re: paint - JayKae - 28-05-2005

No, you cannot, obviously using Photoshop or FSPaint you CAN do it yourself Smile

Re: paint - rfbarber - 28-05-2005

I use FSRepaint, and have created a small fleet with my own colors and the name of my company. I'm having a real problem with my
paint program (Dogwaffle) opening the compressed bmp files of the FS9 aircraft, so am unable to do the detail work I'd like. I was
hoping to create/save my own logo. If anyone has a solution to this, I'd love to hear about it.

But absolutely, with the right programs you'll be able to create your own fleet!

Yes, you have to do it yourself.

One thing that needs to be mentionned, it that you must make sure that you select your aircraft with your paint scheme in FS9 before
buying it in FsP. When you purchase an aircraft in FsP, you purchase an aircraft identical to the one you are in in FS9. So, for example, if
you are in the red and black C-172 in FS9 and you purchase a C-172 in Fs9, that's the plane you purchased. From that point on, you must
fly that perticular C-172 in FsP. Of course, you can purchase another 172 with a different livery and the same principle will apply.

Get yourself DXTBmp. it's freeware and can be found almost anywhere. The compression you're referring to really is another way of encapsulating alpha
channel bmps( transparency references) into the bmp files. DXTBmp will make this clear and allow you to separate the regular bmp from the alpha bmp
and save each as a different file. Then you'll have to reconstruct the extended bmp later on from both assuming you've changed them. FS9 makes use of
32-bit extended image bmps as well as DXT3, which are a little less resolute and a little easier on the framerates. FS9 can also use other bmps if the
.mdl calls for it, but you'll find that these are the two most used. They come in a selectable form, too......with or without MIPS layering. MIPS
layers are used to increase the resolution, hence the distance, at which a texture can be seen on the screen. The more MIPS the farther away an
aircraft can be seen with some degree of quality. These are progressively smaller and smaller and are combined into the algorithm that makes up the
final extended image. Bmps without MIPS are roughly 80% the size of those with MIPS.

I've repainted a number of aircraft (search on AVSIM under WestStar
for the CITX, ATR72-500, B763, B738), and besides DXTBmp, I also use Macromedia Fireworks, PaintShop Pro 9.0, Image Tool, and Aircraft Container
Manager to assist in this process.

I have no clue what any of that means
