Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - marianoberna - 21-07-2011 I just got the idea to share these! 2 days ago the day was really lousy (about 50 or 75 meters ceiling, overcast, -2ÂșC, light rain, light wind from 250/290 (It's winter down here ![]() was on my house working (Pc repairs) when i heard that pop pop pop pop pop pop that's just unmistakable. I went out, to the patio, and, ohmigod!!!!! the sound was geting louder, and louder, and it never started to fade, then i heard the rotors losing pitch and i relized it must have landed nearly and i open the gate to a empti field behind my house (my house is the last of the neighborhood, at 150 meter from my house there is the monte (bushy, tangled, very dense forest) ![]() An Army Huey, training, enroute from Oran (SASO) to Santiago del Estero (SANE), decided the weather was too crappy and they jus dropped down in the lote (small empty field that doesn't belong to one) behind my house I took pictures and chatted a bit with the crew... they just slept a siesta in the helo and a few hours later when the soup was less dense they took of, unfortunately I was seeing a customer, so, i couldn't se it takeoff I love the smell of jet fuel ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - gbapache - 22-07-2011 I love the polish job. Post Edited ( 07-22-11 03:39 ) Re: Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - timtomairways - 22-07-2011 theres a huey in my county. the forestry service has one sitting under the trees and hasent moved in atleast 5 years. Exept a few months ago. they had to move it 30yards to make room for some heavy equiptment to fight the wild fires burning around here. i noticed when they brought it in, the first thing they did was take the tail off. i dont know who owns it or why its there. but if theres one thing i know about aircraft. they always cost someone money. and dont do anyone any good just sitting around im shure that it has seen better days Re: Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - marianoberna - 22-07-2011 Too bad in my country they're still used in the army as troop carriers (like in Vietnam), as training machines for mechanics, to firefight, medevac, etc. etc. Re: Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - gbapache - 22-07-2011 This is me being serious for five minutes. The Huey should rank very high in the list of inovations in aviation of all time. The introduction of the turbine engine along with the counterbalanced swash plate was instrumental to the advanment of helicoptors. That all said, it's still a hard pig to fly. ![]() Re: Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - marianoberna - 22-07-2011 @gbapache The crew said that pedals were specially sensitive, but the ship was pretty easy to fly... may be they were bragging. Militars thend to have an annoying I know how to do... I can do better than you! attitude Re: Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - gbapache - 23-07-2011 It's not annoying, and we are always right. ![]() secound delay from control input to reaction. You just have to get used to it and if a Huey is all you ever drive then it does become easy. Re: Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - marianoberna - 23-07-2011 Ahhhhhhh...So, you have to really fly ahead of the ship? Re: Pictures of a Huey in my neighborhood - gbapache - 23-07-2011 yes |
