RyanAir Standingslots instead of seats - SirN - 20-08-2010
With 1.30 hours flights from Sweden to London, RyanAir has announced it's interest in having standingslots for part of the passengers
instead of chairs in their 737's. The slot for standing is a slot with armrests (it looks like the Los Angeles Olympiad NASA STOL backpack
w/o the backpack - a wall behind your back to the floor only) and you strap in with belt to it... It cuts the costs for passengers and increases
profit for the company....
I think it's far into realising, soon or allready introduced (it's rather long time since I heard about this soo). I just wanted to tell you and hear
your reactions/comments.

RyanAir proposed this idea a few years ago and was turned down on grounds of safety. I can't see it ever being permitted due to safety reasons

if I remember my book from airlaw good it says that every passenger must have a seat with a seatbelt .

It shows some pictures though it might be interesting. The text mentions that the boss of RyanAir expects the slots to pass the safetytests
and the article ends saying that within 2 years it shall become in use... Published 2010-july-02
The article also mentions that the boss wants to start charging money for toallette visits!

The toilette visit charge, again, isn't new news - it was originally aired last year.

now he said that an airplane only needs 1 pilot in the cockpit and that the second pilot is just to fill up the space.
